San Francisco is partly sunny and mild today, July 12, with a high near 73°F that actually slides back down to around 68°F this afternoon as the sea breeze and fog fill back in — so whatever neighborhood you’re in, plan on a layer.
Today’s Setup
Monsoonal moisture has been sliding into the Bay Area overnight, and the National Weather Service says mid- and upper-level clouds will thicken through the day. Southwest wind stays light, 5 to 9 mph, and the chance of rain is only 3% during daylight hours, but isolated showers are possible after 4 AM Monday as the pattern becomes more widespread overnight into Monday.
Best Window To Be Outside
Midday into early afternoon is your sweet spot, before the marine layer noses back over Ocean Beach and the Sunset while downtown and the Mission stay several degrees warmer — the usual 20-degree microclimate split. If you’re headed to Golden Gate Park or the Embarcadero, go before 2 or 3 PM for the clearest light.
Fire, Storms, and Coastal Flooding
The NWS is watching for isolated high-based thunderstorms today and tomorrow as instability builds with the monsoon moisture, and confidence is low but not zero — enough that the forecast discussion flags elevated fire weather concerns both days. It’s a good day to double-check your setup with a smoke detector combo pack. Separately, a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for up to 1.7 feet of inundation in low-lying spots near shorelines and tidal waterways, so give the Embarcadero and Ocean Beach parking areas extra caution around high tide.
Giants Gameday & This Week’s Concerts
The San Francisco Giants host the Colorado Rockies at Oracle Park today, and with a 68-73°F range and light wind off the bay, it’s a comfortable one for the ballpark — grab layers for the evening chill. Find tickets on StubHub or Get tickets on SeatGeek, and gear up in a San Francisco Giants jersey or San Francisco Giants fitted cap. Later this week, Joji: SOLARIS hits Chase Center Tuesday, July 14 — a Joji hoodie will serve you well for the bay-side chill outside the arena.
What To Wear Or Bring
Layer up: a light jacket for the morning and evening fog, and moisture wicking undershirts men will help if you’re active midday when the sun actually breaks through.
Next Few Days
Monday warms up to near 77°F with scattered morning showers clearing to partly sunny skies, and the discussion notes warmer, drier conditions building through midweek as Moderate HeatRisk returns to the region — worth keeping an eye on if you’re outdoors inland.
