Weather Window ("we," "us," or "our") operates thedealdoppler.com. We publish daily weather forecasts, gameday weather, local event coverage, and product recommendations (under our sub-brand The Deal Doppler) for 25 major US metro areas.

Information We Collect

Automatically Collected

When you visit our site, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may collect standard web log data including your IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages visited. This data is used for site performance and security purposes.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies from our affiliate partners to track referrals and earn commissions on qualifying purchases. These include:

• Amazon Associates: Amazon places cookies to track purchases made through our affiliate links.
• CJ Affiliate: CJ uses tracking cookies and pixels to attribute sales to our referrals.

Click Tracking (Our Own Affiliate Redirect)

When you click an affiliate link on our site, the link first passes through our own redirect at /go/<id> before forwarding you to the merchant. This redirect logs the following non-personal information so we can understand which articles drive clicks and improve our content:

• The article slug you clicked from
• The product or affiliate program category
• Your country (derived from your IP address by Cloudflare; we do not store the IP itself)
• Your browser type (user-agent string)
• The referring page URL
• Timestamp of the click

This data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database we operate and is not shared with third parties beyond what's needed to complete the affiliate redirect. We do not associate this data with any individual user identity.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site — what pages they view, how long they stay, and what content they engage with. GA4 places cookies in your browser and may collect:

• Pages visited and time spent on each
• Approximate geographic location (country/region level, derived from IP)
• Device type and browser
• Referring source (search engine, direct, link from another site)
• Affiliate click events (which categories/articles drive clicks) — sent server-side via the GA4 Measurement Protocol from our /go/ redirect

We do not send Google Analytics any personally identifying information. IP addresses are anonymized by Google before storage. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We do not currently collect personal information directly (no account registration, forms, or email signup). If we add these features in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
