San Antonio weather Saturday brings a strong cold front with gusty winds to 35 mph and a 50% chance of rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon.
If you’ve got outdoor plans this weekend—whether it’s a Spurs game watch at the Frost Bank Center on Monday, a stroll along the River Walk, or a family gathering in one of our Hill Country neighborhoods—here’s what you need to know.
Saturday: Windy and Wet
That cold front is arriving mid-to-late morning, and it’s bringing some serious punch. The National Weather Service says gusts could top 35 mph at times, so if you’re thinking about setting up event tents or canopies at a backyard party, secure everything now. A pop-up canopy tent with weights and a good bungee cord assortment are worth their weight in gold today. Same goes for patio furniture—grab some outdoor furniture covers to keep things from blowing around.
Rain chances climb to 50% between 10 AM and 4 PM CT, with the best chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 PM and 4 PM CT. The good news? Rainfall amounts will stay light—less than a tenth of an inch. Temperatures start near 76°F but will fall to around 67°F by afternoon as the front sweeps through.
The Weather Prediction Center has flagged a Marginal Risk of excessive rainfall for portions of central Texas (including the San Antonio area) due to wetter soil conditions from recent heavy rain, so while flash flooding isn’t the main concern here, it’s something to monitor if you’re near creeks or low-lying areas near the River Walk.
Saturday Night Into Sunday: Cooler and Damp
Don’t pack away that jacket yet. Saturday night temperatures drop to 56°F with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms—some could be more persistent, with rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible. Wind stays gusty from the north-northeast at 15-20 mph with gusts to 35 mph. If you’ve got a trampoline or outdoor equipment, now’s the time to use a trampoline anchor kit to keep things secure.
Sunday improves slightly. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a high near 68°F and only a 22% chance of a few lingering showers. It’ll be a great day to venture out to the Spurs game Monday night—indoor comfort at the Frost Bank Center!
Looking Ahead
Cool weather sticks around into mid-week with good rain chances Monday through Wednesday. Bring layers if you’re heading to any outdoor activities at local parks or the Fort Sam Houston area.
