San Antonio weather today brings a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning, with a high near 79°F and mostly cloudy skies through the afternoon. The National Weather Service is tracking a closed low-pressure system moving east from northern Mexico, which creates a favorable setup for scattered storms—particularly along and south of Highway 90—but most of us here in the Alamo City should stay dry, especially if you’re planning activities around the River Walk or near Lackland Air Force Base.

Today’s Storm Window

The main window for storms is between 7 AM and 10 AM CT, with only a 20% chance of precipitation. Any storms that develop would be isolated and quick-moving. After 10 AM, conditions should clear out nicely, giving you the afternoon to enjoy outdoor plans. If you’re heading to the Frost Bank Center or anywhere downtown, you should be fine by midday.

Best Window To Be Outside

Friday afternoon looks solid for outdoor activities. Once morning showers clear by mid-morning, expect partly cloudy skies and light east winds around 5 mph. This is excellent fishing weather—if you’re planning a trip to one of the local lakes, pack your catfish bait dip worms and head out after 11 AM CT. Golfers should also take advantage: the light winds and mild temps make for great conditions on the course. Grab a golf bag stand lightweight if you’re carrying your own clubs.

Friday Night Into Saturday

Things get more active Friday night. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops between 7 PM and 4 AM CT, with light winds and temperatures dropping to around 71°F. The National Weather Service notes that localized rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter inch are possible. Saturday morning may still see some lingering showers, but the afternoon should clear out nicely with highs climbing to the mid-80s.

Spurs Gameday & Concert Season

If you’re catching the Spurs vs. Timberwolves Round 2 Game 5 on May 12 at the Frost Bank Center, you’re looking at much better weather by then. Saturday night into Sunday will be calmer before another system moves in. Get Official team gear on Fanatics to show your support, and Find tickets on StubHub if you need a seat. Before that, don’t miss Romeo Santos & Prince Royce - Mejor Tarde Que Nunca Tour 2026 on May 10 at the Moody Center ATX—grab Find tickets on SeatGeek to secure your spot.

Grilling & Dining

Friday afternoon is perfect for firing up the grill. With temperatures in the upper 70s and clearing skies, this is ideal weather for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. Grab an instant-read meat thermometer and a grill brush and scraper set to prep your equipment, then fire up your portable propane grill for some serious outdoor cooking. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Saturday afternoon should be mostly quiet with highs near 86°F. Sunday brings another weak cold front and a second round of showers and thunderstorms, so outdoor plans may need flexibility. Check back for updates as we get closer to the weekend.

Stay weather-aware, and enjoy the break in the heat this week!
