Orlando is waking up to a bright, sunny Saturday morning with a high near 92°F — but afternoon thunderstorms arrive after 2 PM ET, so front-load your outdoor plans and have a backup ready for the theme parks by midafternoon.

Today’s Setup

The morning looks clear and breezy across the metro. A light southeast wind of 5 to 10 mph makes things tolerable before the heat builds toward that 92°F peak near Disney Springs, International Drive, and Lake Eola Park. The National Weather Service puts the thunderstorm chance at 40% after 2 PM ET, with storms capable of 40-50 mph wind gusts, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and localized rainfall of 3 inches or more in spots. Expect possible ride holds at the parks in the mid-afternoon window.

Best Window To Be Outside

Before noon is your sweet spot. Rope-drop at Magic Kingdom or Universal, get a walk in around Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs, or squeeze in nine holes early — the Callaway Big Bertha Fairway Wood is on sale this week if your bag needs an upgrade. Pack an insulated tumbler 30oz to keep your drinks cold throughout the morning. The National Weather Service has Moderate HeatRisk in place through early next week — hydration is non-negotiable.

Rain & Heat Risk

Afternoon storms will be capable of 40-50 mph gusts and brief heavy downpours. Low-lying roads around Pine Hills and along SR-50 could see quick flooding. Tonight the storm threat lingers until around 11 PM ET (50% chance), then clears to mostly cloudy skies with a low near 75°F.

Heading to the coast? The National Weather Service warns that rip current risk is HIGH at all Atlantic beaches in east central Florida today — Cocoa Beach, New Smyrna Beach, and Daytona Beach included. Swimming in the ocean is not advised.

Weekend Events To Plan Around

Orlando Carnival Downtown – Jouvert opens tonight at Camping World Stadium. Arrive before 2 PM to get ahead of the storm window — afternoon timing will be tight. Sunday’s Parade and Concert is also at Camping World Stadium, with the same 60% storm chance in play for the afternoon.

Also Sunday: Orlando City SC hosts New York City FC in a home MLS matchup. Storm chances peak in the afternoon, so be ready for weather delays and have your rain plan set. Represent your squad in an Orlando City SC jersey and Orlando City SC scarf before kickoff — and grab seats via Get tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub.

The Carlos Vives - Tour Al Sol rolls into Kia Center on Sunday, May 24 — indoors and fully storm-proof. Rock a Carlos Vives t-shirt and lock in your seats through Find tickets on StubHub.

What To Wear Or Bring

Go light and breathable. Men’s sport sandals are perfect for a morning walkabout before the heat peaks. Pack a compact umbrella — those afternoon storms don’t give much warning.

Dinner Tonight

Skip the oven entirely tonight. A cold Thai noodle salad or smoothie bowls are exactly right when it’s this muggy outside. A high-powered blender whips up a smoothie bowl in two minutes flat, and an insulated tumbler 30oz keeps your drink cold while you eat on the lanai. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything at your door before the evening storms move through.

Next Few Days

Sunday is the wettest day of the Memorial Day weekend — 60% storm chances day and night. The sea breeze pattern stays locked in through Memorial Day, keeping daily afternoon thunderstorm chances elevated. The National Weather Service says HeatRisk remains at Moderate levels through early next week. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on the Orlando weather forecast for the latest storm timing.

Upcoming Home Games

Plan around the forecast — grab tickets, gear up, and see kickoff conditions.
