Orlando is starting Tuesday warm and mostly sunny, with a high near 89°F — but keep that early-afternoon storm window in mind before you plan your day at the parks or downtown.
Today’s Setup
High pressure sitting off the Mid-Atlantic coast is keeping most of central Florida dry, with east winds at 5 to 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. The National Weather Service expects a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 and 3 PM ET — mostly over the far interior, with highest chances west of Leesburg. For the greater Orlando metro, rain chances stay around 20%, so most of us stay dry. Tonight clears up nicely, dropping to around 72°F with mostly clear skies.
Rip current alert: The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH RISK for life-threatening rip currents at ALL central Florida Atlantic beaches today. Stay out of the surf at Cocoa Beach and New Smyrna Beach — this risk may continue through much of this week.
Best Window To Be Outside
Morning is your golden window. Guests heading to Disney, Universal, or SeaWorld should aim to arrive early and plan to be indoors before 1 PM ET. Golfers at Bay Hill or Orange County National — tee off before 11 AM ET and you’ll beat both the heat and any storm development. If you’re in the market for new course gear, check out this Callaway Big Bertha 23 Fairway Wood — $150 Shipped before the weekend rounds.
Rain & Heat Risk
That 20% afternoon storm chance is low but not zero — isolated storms could pack gusty winds near 50 mph and small hail over the far interior. Toss a compact travel umbrella or a packable rain jacket in your bag, especially if you’re heading to any outdoor venue this evening. Looking ahead: increasingly humid conditions are forecast to push Moderate HeatRisk across east central Florida by the weekend. Stay hydrated and start planning for that.
Orlando City SC vs. Atlanta United FC — Tonight!
Inter&Co Stadium hosts a big one tonight: Orlando City SC takes on Atlanta United FC in the US Open Cup Quarterfinals. Evening kickoff conditions look ideal — temps ease into the low 80s after sunset and rain chances drop to just 5% overnight. A great night to be pitch-side. Pick up Official team gear on Fanatics before you go, or grab last-minute seats by finding tickets on StubHub.
Upcoming Events
Laura Pausini brings the YO CANTO WORLD TOUR to Kia Center on Thursday, May 21 — an indoor show, so no weather worries. Get tickets on SeatGeek and rep the night with a Laura Pausini t-shirt. Also on the calendar: Carlos Vives plays Kia Center on May 24, and Orlando Carnival Downtown takes over Camping World Stadium with Jouvert on Saturday, May 23, followed by the Parade and Concert on Sunday, May 24 — both outdoor events, so keep an eye on the late-week forecast as storm chances rise.
Tonight’s Dinner
That brief afternoon storm window is a perfect excuse to start something low and slow. Set a programmable slow cooker or an enameled cast iron Dutch oven going with chili or beef stew before you head out — dinner’s ready when you walk back in. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Wednesday is near a carbon copy of today: sunny morning, high near 89°F, with a 30% chance of afternoon showers and storms after 1 PM ET. Storm chances and humidity gradually ramp through the end of the week and into the weekend. Stay updated at your Orlando weather forecast.
