Miami is kicking off Wednesday warm and mostly cloudy with a high near 87°F — morning plans look great, but anything scheduled after 1 PM ET needs a rain backup.

Check the Miami weather forecast throughout the day for the latest updates.

Today’s Setup

A slow-moving frontal boundary is dragging southward across South Florida today, according to the National Weather Service Miami office. The morning should stay mainly dry, but scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to fire up this afternoon into early evening. The highest storm chances will focus on the interior and the east coast metro — think the I-95 corridor from Brickell north through Wynwood, Edgewater, and up toward Aventura. Southwest winds of 5 to 13 mph are expected, with gusts up to 18 mph. Tonight clears out nicely with a low around 78°F.

Best Window To Be Outside

You’ve got a solid window before noon. A morning walk along Bayfront Park or a jog through Coconut Grove is a great call right now. Golfers should tee off early — temperatures in the upper 80s demand proper hydration, and an insulated water jug 1 gallon on the cart is a smart habit this time of year. Check out outdoor gear deals before you head out.

Rain and Rip Current Risk

Rain probability sits at 30% today — brief, fast-moving storms rather than an all-day soaker. The Weather Prediction Center puts excessive rainfall or flash flooding risk below 5%, so widespread flooding is not a concern. Beach-goers near Palm Beach and Collier County should be aware of an elevated rip current risk today, per the National Weather Service. Swim near a lifeguard and remember: if caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore — not against it.

Events Tonight and This Week

Big night at Hard Rock Live: the Eagles: The Long Goodbye Act III is happening tonight. Storms are possible before 7 PM ET, so arrive early, get parked, and you’ll be dry inside when the band takes the stage. Rep the show with an Eagles hat or an Eagles t-shirt — and once you’re in the venue, the weather’s someone else’s problem.

Thursday brings Pitbull – I’m Back with special guest Lil Jon at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre. That’s an outdoor venue, and Thursday’s pattern mirrors today: sunny through midday, then widely scattered storms possible from mid-afternoon into early evening. Check the show time — if it runs late evening, conditions should improve. Bring a packable layer regardless.

Looking ahead, Inter Miami CF faces Portland Timbers at Nu Stadium on May 17. Grab an Inter Miami CF jersey or an Inter Miami CF scarf before the match — and lock in your seats now via Find tickets on StubHub or Get tickets on SeatGeek.

Next Few Days

Thursday stays warm with a high near 86°F — sunny through midday, then scattered storm chances return mid-afternoon into early evening, again focused on the east coast metro. Temperatures remain above normal through the rest of the week per the National Weather Service. Friday and the weekend look similar: typical late-spring South Florida pattern with afternoon convection possible.

Rainy Day Dinner Idea

If those afternoon storms have you staying in, it’s a perfect slow cooker night. Load up a programmable slow cooker in the morning with a beef chili or hearty stew and it’ll be ready when you walk in the door — an enameled cast iron Dutch oven works beautifully on the stovetop too if you want more control. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
