Dallas-Fort Worth is in for another scorcher today, Friday, July 24, with a high near 98°F, a heat index up to 106°F, and partly sunny skies under an active Heat Advisory — plan outdoor errands for early morning or evening and keep the water bottle full.

Today’s Setup

Tropical Depression Bertha is pushing extra moisture and cloud cover across North Texas today, according to the National Weather Service Fort Worth office, which is actually helping cap temperatures in the mid- to upper 90s. Combined with the humidity, afternoon heat index values are running 97-107°F, and forecasters expanded the Heat Advisory east into Fannin, Van Zandt and surrounding counties. The advisory runs through 8 PM CT tonight. Winds turn south-southeast around 10 mph with gusts to 25 mph, and the overnight low only dips to near 80°F.

Best Time To Be Outside

With highs peaking in mid-afternoon, the safest window is before 10 AM CT or after 7 PM CT. That’s the call whether you’re mowing the lawn, walking the Katy Trail, or fishing White Rock Lake or Lake Grapevine — early and late light are your best bites, and a topwater frog lure or soft plastic worm bait can work well then. Golfers should book sunrise tee times; a golf tee assortment is cheap insurance for a hot round. Grab sun protection either way — see the UPF 50+ Sun Hoodie deal for fishing days on the water.

Heat Risk Through The Weekend

This isn’t a one-day pattern. Saturday climbs to near 100°F with heat index values again as high as 106°F, and the National Weather Service says additional Heat Advisories may be needed through the weekend into early next week as a stubborn upper-level ridge keeps things hot and dry, with highs reaching the mid-90s to around 105°F into next week. No severe weather is expected locally, and the Weather Prediction Center’s excessive rainfall risk is focused on the Southeast, not North Texas.

Rangers Gameday, Concerts & What To Bring

The Texas Rangers host the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field starting Saturday, July 25, through July 27 — expect hot, muggy tailgating, so hydrate early and pack a Yeti hopper cooler bag. Find tickets on StubHub or get tickets on SeatGeek, and rep the team with a Texas Rangers jersey or Texas Rangers fitted cap. Tonight, Grupo Frontera plays American Airlines Center and Motionless In White hits The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory — grab a Grupo Frontera t-shirt and dress light, since the walk-in heat is still brutal at showtime. Saturday brings the Coral Reefer Band to Dickies Arena and Hamilton to Bass Performance Hall. Browse outdoor gear deals or check the pellet grill smoking guide for turning tonight’s cookout into low-and-slow tri-tip.

It’s dry, clear grilling weather tonight. Fire up the propane gas grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob, using an instant-read meat thermometer and grill brush and scraper set to keep it simple. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Expect the heat to hold: near 100°F Saturday, then mid-90s to around 105°F through early next week as the ridge stays parked overhead. Stay hydrated, watch for expanded Heat Advisories, and save the yard work for early mornings.

Upcoming Home Games

Plan around the forecast — grab tickets, gear up, and see kickoff conditions.
