The second, more organized round develops ahead of an approaching cold front, with showers and thunderstorms possible from around 3 PM to 5 PM ET, continuing into the overnight hours. Southwest winds of 12 to 16 mph, with gusts up to 26 mph, will be noticeable all day.

Get outside before noon. By early afternoon, clouds build fast and rain chances climb sharply. Tonight is the wet period: NWS gives a 94% chance of showers and thunderstorms through about 4 AM ET, with rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch possible.
