Faster model guidance — which forecasters are leaning toward — would push the disturbance across the Mississippi River into Illinois by around 1 PM CT, keeping the highest storm chances over east central and southeast Missouri into southern Illinois, with lower odds closer to the St. Louis metro. A slower track would put the whole area, including Forest Park and the Gateway Arch grounds, under a storm threat all afternoon. Either way, CAPE over 3,000 J/kg and 30-35 knot shear mean any storms that fire have the ingredients to organize.
Best Window To Be Outside
Morning through early afternoon is your safest stretch — get the Forest Park run, Grant’s Farm visit, or yard work done before midday. NWS pegs today’s rain chance at 51%, so don’t be surprised if it stays dry into the afternoon, but have an indoor backup ready.
