St. Louis is in for a stormy Saturday with a high near 87°F and multiple rounds of thunderstorms possible — the most serious arriving after dark along a cold front. If you have outdoor plans, your window is midday, not this evening.

Today’s Setup

The National Weather Service is tracking several thunderstorm windows today. A morning wave out of western Missouri may bring showers between 7 and 10 AM CT near Forest Park and along the I-64 corridor, but NWS forecasters note confidence is low that this system holds together long enough to reach the Gateway Arch area with any real punch. The bigger threat builds tonight.

A cold front will fire up the best chance for severe thunderstorms this evening, with damaging wind gusts as the primary concern. Storms ramp up significantly after 11 PM CT, carrying a 70% chance of heavy rain overnight. The Weather Prediction Center has issued a Moderate Risk of excessive rainfall for southwestern Missouri — St. Louis sits in a Slight Risk zone, but flash flooding is a genuine concern near low-lying areas along the Mississippi River.

Best Window To Be Outside

Aim for late morning to early afternoon — roughly 10 AM to 3 PM CT — before storm activity picks back up ahead of the cold front. After 5 PM CT, monitor radar closely and have a plan to be indoors well before midnight.

Rain Risk And Severe Weather

The overnight storms are the headline. If you live near any creek, hollow, or low-lying neighborhood, keep a close eye on water levels once storms organize after midnight. The National Weather Service notes some storms could produce heavy rain in a short time. Stay weather-aware and don’t count on a quiet night.

What To Wear Today

Leave the house with a packable rain jacket any time you step out — even midday. South winds stay light at 5 to 8 mph, but 87°F with July-level humidity will feel sticky all afternoon.

Tonight’s Events — Know Before You Go

Megan Moroney: The Cloud 9 Tour is at Enterprise Center tonight — thankfully indoors, so you’re safe from the storms once you’re inside. Grab a Megan Moroney t-shirt and plan to arrive early before conditions worsen outside. Still need seats? Get tickets on SeatGeek.

Sammy Hagar: The Best of All Worlds 2026 is also tonight at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater — an outdoor venue. Monitor storm timing closely if you’re headed there, and have an exit plan ready.

Cardinals Weekend Series

The St. Louis Cardinals host the San Diego Padres on June 15 and June 16 at Busch Stadium. After tonight’s cold front clears, Sunday jumps to a lovely 77°F with mostly sunny skies — excellent ballgame weather downtown. Grab a St. Louis Cardinals jersey or St. Louis Cardinals fitted cap before heading to the ballpark. Find tickets on StubHub if you still need them.

Dinner For A Stormy Night

A rainy Saturday calls for something that cooks itself. Load a programmable slow cooker with chili or beef stew in the morning and let it run all day — dinner is ready right when the storms roll in. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered before the evening weather turns.

Next Few Days

Sunday brings dramatic improvement: mostly sunny, near 77°F, with northwest winds gusting to 21 mph to scrub out the humidity. Monday stays pleasant before showers and thunderstorms work back into the St. Louis area Tuesday and beyond. Keep checking your St. Louis weather forecast as the pattern evolves, and browse outdoor gear deals if you’re gearing up for the nicer stretch ahead.
