St. Louis is looking at a beautiful sunny Monday with a high near 70°F and just a light southeast breeze of 2 to 7 mph—practically ideal conditions for getting outside and shaking off that spring chill.

After a cool overnight low around 43°F, temperatures will climb steadily through the morning. The National Weather Service forecasters tell us that a weak cold front moved through early this morning, but high pressure is already pushing in from the southwest, keeping our skies mostly clear. If you’re planning to head to the Gateway Arch grounds or take a walk along the Riverfront, you’ll want to wait until mid-morning when things warm up—bring a light jacket for now, but you won’t need it by lunchtime.

This is an excellent day to tackle yard work if you’ve been putting it off. The low humidity and calm winds mean your lawn fertilizer will go down smoothly and evenly. Just keep in mind that spring pollen counts are climbing as we head into late April. If you’re sensitive to allergies, grab some allergy relief nasal spray before heading outside, and consider wearing a pollen count face mask while doing yard work—it’ll make a real difference.

Golfers and fishermen should mark their calendars: conditions on the water and greens will be outstanding today. Head to Forest Park or any of the metro’s public courses—the light winds and sunshine are exactly what you want. Grilling season is officially here, too. Fire up the barbecue this evening; Monday Night will stay pleasant with a low around 52°F and mostly clear skies.

Now here’s where things get interesting: Tuesday is going to be even warmer, with highs climbing to 82°F under sunny skies. Southwest winds will gust up to 24 mph, so secure any patio furniture or loose items. This warm stretch continues through Wednesday and Thursday before showers and thunderstorms arrive late Thursday night into early Friday. The National Weather Service is monitoring the potential for redevelopment of storms Friday afternoon, so we’ll keep a close eye on that.

For tonight’s dinner, take advantage of the mild evening and fire up the grill for some burgers or grilled vegetables. A simple pasta salad pairs perfectly with grilled chicken—fresh, light, and perfect for spring weather. Did you know you can order groceries on Amazon? Get everything you need for tonight’s dinner delivered straight to your door.

Next 3 days: Sunny and warming Monday through Tuesday (highs near 70 and 82°F), then increasing clouds Wednesday. Showers and storms arrive late Thursday night.
