St. Louis gets a gift to close out Memorial Day weekend — mostly sunny skies, a high near 83°F, and dry conditions that make today perfect for spending time outside. Get out there.
Today’s Setup
A surface ridge parked over the mid-Mississippi Valley is keeping things calm and comfortable. The National Weather Service is calling for light easterly winds of 1 to 7 mph, and while a few clouds may build along and south of I-70 this afternoon, none of that brings rain to the metro. Dewpoints should stay in a comfortable range — a welcome break after recent soggy stretches.
One early-morning note: if you’re near the river valleys or low-lying areas — think the Riverfront or the bottoms south of downtown — patchy fog is possible before sunrise. It should burn off quickly once the sun gets going.
Allergy heads-up: a mostly clear, lightly breezy day means tree and grass pollen will be on the move. If you’re sensitive, plan around peak afternoon hours at Forest Park or the Gateway Arch grounds.
Best Window To Be Outside
All day is yours. Morning is the cleanest window, but midday and early afternoon are excellent too. Clouds increase a bit toward evening but stay dry. This is as good as Memorial Day gets in St. Louis.
Grilling & Outdoor Plans
Seriously — fire it up. Burgers, steaks, grilled chicken with corn on the cob: today has the weather for all of it. Make sure your setup is dialed in. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of chicken and thick cuts, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps the grates clean between rounds. For something a little different, check out our pellet grill tri-tip guide — it’s one of the better backyard moves this summer. Need supplies? Order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered in time for dinner.
Rain Returns Tuesday — Then More
Enjoy the sun today, because an active pattern is moving in. A slow-moving upper-level low over Texas will lift northeast Tuesday, dragging a weak frontal boundary back into our area. Tuesday daytime looks mostly cloudy with just a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 PM CT — only 20%. But Tuesday night gets more serious: the National Weather Service puts precip chances at 55–60%, with storms likely overnight. If you have outdoor yard work or projects planned for Tuesday, wrap them up before early afternoon.
Events This Week
The weather clears again in time for a packed week of shows. Between The Buried And Me brings The Blue Nowhere U.S. Tour to The Pageant on May 28 — Get tickets on SeatGeek before the weekend crowd snaps them up. On May 29, the St. Louis Battlehawks host the Dallas Renegades at The Dome at America’s Center (indoors — zero weather concerns), and Hadestown runs at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Saturday, May 30, Les Claypool plays The Factory for the Claypool Gold show — a great night out. Grab a Les Claypool t-shirt or a Les Claypool hat to rep the show. Find tickets on StubHub and check out outdoor gear deals if you’re making a full weekend of it.
Next Few Days
Memorial Day (today): sunny, 83°F — the best day of the stretch. Tuesday: mostly cloudy, near 82°F, slight storm chance after 2 PM CT. Tuesday night: storms likely, 55–60% chance. The National Weather Service signals an active pattern continuing through the end of the workweek, so check back daily for updated timing.
