Fri 79°Mostly Sunny

Sun 75°Mostly Sunny
Mon 74°Mostly Sunny

Seattle is heading into a mostly sunny, near-record hot Tuesday with a high near 88°F, and a heat advisory means the smart move is to front-load your outdoor plans before early afternoon. The National Weather Service’s Seattle office has the advisory running from 10 AM today until at least 11 PM Wednesday, so this isn’t a one-day blip.

Today’s Setup

Overnight lows only dropped to 63°F thanks to high clouds streaming in ahead of an upper-level ridge, and today’s northwest wind stays light at 1 to 7 mph — basically no relief there. Forecasters note 850 mb temperatures aloft are climbing toward the low-to-mid 20s Celsius, peaking Wednesday afternoon, which is why Wednesday actually tops today at 91°F before a pattern change moves in in Wednesday night with a 41% chance of showers.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning is your friend. Get a run in at Green Lake or a walk along Alki Beach before 11 AM while temperatures are still climbing, then plan on shade after that — Discovery Park’s forested trails hold up better than open pavement once the sun’s high. If Mount Rainier is visible from your commute this morning, take a look; the ridge-driven clear skies tend to open up good sightlines before afternoon haze builds.

Heat Risk, Not Rain

There’s no severe thunderstorm risk flagged for the Seattle area today, and rain chances stay at 2% for both today and tomorrow. The heat itself is the story — the NWS is calling this a pair of near-record-breaking high and low temperatures for Western Washington, and homes without AC can get uncomfortable fast. A dehumidifier 50 pint home unit can help keep indoor air manageable if things feel muggy overnight.

What To Wear Or Bring

Dress light: ventilated workout shorts men and moisture wicking undershirts men will make a huge difference if you’re out and about midday. For evening walks once the sun eases off, running shoes men are worth breaking out again. If you’ve got kids looking to cool off in the backyard, a slip and slide is an easy afternoon fix, and the 2-Person Intex Floating Lounge with Cooler on Amazon is a solid grab if a lake trip is on the agenda this week.

Tonight’s Games And Shows

The Seattle Mariners host the Cincinnati Reds at T-Mobile Park tonight (July 21) and again tomorrow (July 22) — warm, dry gameday conditions both nights, so it’s a good excuse to break out a Seattle Mariners jersey or Seattle Mariners fitted cap. Get tickets on SeatGeek if you’re heading down. The Fray play Chateau Ste Michelle Winery tonight, and Hell’s Kitchen is on stage at the Paramount Theatre — both good indoor-outdoor options if you want out of the house this evening. Find tickets on StubHub for either. Tomorrow night, the Seattle Storm face the Minnesota Lynx at Climate Pledge Arena.

Dinner Tonight

With temps this high, keep the oven off — a light pasta toss or a quick stir-fry on the stovetop won’t heat up the kitchen the way a roast would. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Wednesday is the hotter of the two days at 91°F before showers move in Wednesday night into Thursday behind the remnants of what was Tropical Storm Elida. After that, an onshore flow pattern settles in Friday through early next week, bringing more typical Seattle temperatures back. Check the full Seattle weather forecast for updates, and browse outdoor gear deals while you’re prepping for the heat.

Upcoming Home Games
