San Francisco is waking up to a classic Karl the Fog Sunday: clouds breaking for partly sunny skies, a high near 67°F, and a light west-southwest breeze around 5 to 12 mph — dry all day, with the National Weather Service putting the chance of rain at just 2%.

Today’s Setup

Onshore flow is pushing stratus and patchy mist inland this morning, per the NWS San Francisco office’s latest discussion, so expect the gray to linger longest over Ocean Beach, the Sunset, and the Golden Gate before it thins toward midday. Sunnier breaks are likelier east toward the Mission and bayside neighborhoods. Overnight lows only dipped to 54°F before nudging back up near 56°F, and tonight settles into the upper 50s under mostly cloudy skies.

Best Window To Be Outside

Midday through mid-afternoon is your best bet before the marine layer starts creeping back in toward evening. If you’re headed to Golden Gate Park, Crissy Field, or Twin Peaks for a walk, aim for that 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. stretch when the sun is most likely to poke through.

Fog, Wind, And What’s Offshore

No severe weather is expected locally — the Storm Prediction Center has no outlook for the Bay Area, and the Weather Prediction Center’s excessive rainfall risk is confined to the Southwest and East Coast, nowhere near San Francisco. The one thing forecasters are tracking is Tropical Storm Elida, currently about 1,000 miles southwest of Point Conception; it’s expected to weaken to a remnant low by early Tuesday and is mainly contributing high clouds overhead, not local impacts. High pressure building over the interior will keep the marine layer and cooler-than-normal temperatures in place through the first half of the week.

What To Wear Or Bring

Layer up — a light jacket or hoodie for morning fog, then something breathable for the afternoon break. If you’re out most of the day, an insulated water jug 1 gallon keeps drinks cold through the wind, and it’s smart shoulder-season gear anywhere the marine layer burns off into sunshine.

Game Day And Weekend Plans

The Oakland Athletics host the Washington Nationals today at Sutter Health Park; that inland Sacramento venue runs far warmer than the city, likely into the 80s or 90s per the NWS’s inland outlook, so hydrate before first pitch. Grab an Oakland Athletics jersey or Oakland Athletics fitted cap to rep the team, and check ticket availability with Get tickets on SeatGeek. Tomorrow brings the Golden State Valkyries hosting the Washington Mystics at Chase Center, and Evanescence plays Shoreline Amphitheatre with Spiritbox and Nova Twins — pick up an Evanescence t-shirt if you’re headed down.

Dinner Tonight

With dry, mild conditions and light wind, it’s a good night to fire up the grill — the smoke tri-tip like brisket guide is worth a look if you want backyard-brisket flavor without the all-day cook. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Monday looks nearly identical — partly sunny, high near 69°F, light wind, essentially dry. The NWS discussion notes near or slightly below normal temperatures and higher humidity continuing through the first half of the week as the marine layer holds firm under building high pressure, so keep that jacket handy through Tuesday.
