San Francisco is in for a gorgeous but breezy Monday, with clear skies and a high near 83°F — Karl the Fog is officially taking the day off. Before you head out, the National Weather Service has several cautions in effect through this afternoon that are worth reading first.
Today’s Setup
Offshore winds are driving today’s warmth, pushing the city into the low 80s while coastal spots stay in the 60s to low 70s — classic Bay Area microclimate math. Expect north-northwest winds of 8 to 14 mph in the city with gusts up to 28 mph. If you’re in the Santa Cruz Mountains, North Bay hills, or East Bay ridges, conditions get more serious: sustained winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts potentially reaching 50 mph or more on exposed ridges and passes. Note that temperatures will fall to around 79°F by mid-afternoon even as skies stay clear.
Hazards: Wind, Beach, and Fire Risk
The National Weather Service has flagged hazardous beach conditions through Monday. Ocean Beach is a look-but-don’t-swim situation today — dangerous surf and strong rip currents make it genuinely risky. Keep everyone back from the water’s edge.
The dry offshore flow is also fueling elevated fire weather concerns through Monday for interior Bay Area locations. Low humidity plus gusty winds is a serious wildfire combination. Be especially careful near open space and wildland areas — no outdoor burning today.
Best Window To Be Outside
NWS forecasters expect winds to ease late Monday morning and continue calming through the afternoon. Your sweet spot is roughly 1 to 5 PM PT — lighter breezes, sunshine, and temperatures near 79°F. Crissy Field, Dolores Park, and the Embarcadero waterfront are all excellent picks. Allergy sufferers take note: dry, breezy days can send pollen counts surging. Tuck some eye drops for allergy itch relief in your bag before you head out.
Upcoming Events: BTS at Stanford + BottleRock Napa
Tomorrow (Tuesday, May 19), the BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ IN STANFORD takes over Stanford Stadium under sunny skies with a high near 83°F and light winds — near-perfect outdoor concert conditions. Pick up a BTS t-shirt to represent, and Find tickets on StubHub if you still need seats.
This Friday (May 22), BottleRock Napa Valley opens at Napa Valley Expo. Napa evenings cool off fast, so a BottleRock Napa Valley hoodie is a smart call. Get tickets on SeatGeek while they last. Also on May 22, the San Francisco Giants host the Chicago White Sox at Oracle Park — grab Official team gear on Fanatics before the weekend.
Tonight’s Dinner
With a warm, breezy evening ahead, a light pasta primavera loaded with fresh spring vegetables is an easy win. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Tuesday looks equally sunny with a high near 83°F and calmer winds — one of the nicer days of the month. If you’re planning bay fishing midweek, the UPF 50+ Fishing Shirts for $6.50: Best Sun Protection Deal is worth a look before you head out on the water.
