San Francisco starts the week partly sunny and mild, with highs near 77°F before the city’s famous afternoon marine push cools things back down to around 72°F — so if you’re planning anything outdoors, aim for late morning through early afternoon while the sun’s still out in full force.
Today’s Setup
The National Weather Service San Francisco office says a plume of monsoon moisture pushing up from the desert Southwest is behind the colorful sunrises and sunsets we’ve had the last couple of days, and it’s also bringing a slight chance of thunderstorms through Tuesday. Winds stay light out of the west-southwest at 2 to 9 mph, so it won’t feel breezy — just noticeably milder than a deep marine-layer day.
Best Window To Be Outside
Get outside between 10 AM and 2 PM PT, before the afternoon cool-down sets in. Ocean Beach and the Marina waterfront should stay comfortable, while spots tucked into the fog belt, like the Sunset or the western half of Golden Gate Park, may run several degrees cooler thanks to San Francisco’s trademark microclimates. Dolores Park is a solid bet for an afternoon picnic — pack a picnic basket set for 4 and take advantage of the mild air before Monday night’s low near 59°F.
Storm Chance And Coastal Flooding
That monsoon moisture keeps a slight thunderstorm chance in play through Tuesday, though confidence on any storms actually reaching the city is low. More noteworthy: the NWS says minor coastal flooding continues through Thursday morning due to unusually large tidal swings, so give extra distance to low-lying spots along the Embarcadero and near Ocean Beach around high tide.
What To Wear Or Bring
Layer up — mornings and evenings dip into the upper 50s, while midday feels like a light jacket can come off. Heading out for a run along the Bay? Running shoes men’s models with good grip are worth having, and an outdoor yoga mat is a nice call for a Crissy Field session while the weather’s this pleasant.
This Week’s Games & Shows
Joji brings his SOLARIS tour to Chase Center Tuesday, July 14, with mild, dry evening weather that’s easy to dress for. Read our Joji concert guide, grab tickets on SeatGeek, and pick up a Joji hoodie for the walk to the arena. Forrest Frank plays Oakland Arena that same night — see our Forrest Frank tour guide — and a Forrest Frank t-shirt makes a good souvenir. The Golden State Valkyries host the Washington Mystics at Chase Center on Saturday, July 18; stock up on Official team gear on Fanatics before tipoff.
Dinner Tonight
With mild, dry weather like this, a versatile dinner works best — pasta or a quick stir-fry both fit the bill. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon, including Amazon Fresh groceries, and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Tuesday holds near 76°F and mostly sunny with that lingering slight storm chance, and the NWS notes warmer temperatures continuing through Wednesday before things ease back. Keep an eye on the outdoor gear deals page while the mild stretch continues.
