San Antonio is looking at a mostly sunny, hot Tuesday with a high near 94°F and heat index values climbing as high as 100°F, so if you’ve got outdoor plans, morning is your window. Winds stay light out of the south-southeast at 0 to 5 mph, which means little relief from the heat once the sun gets high over the Alamo City.

Today’s Setup

According to the National Weather Service, a mid- to upper-level ridge sitting over Texas is keeping the pattern mostly dry, though weak cyclonic flow could still spark an isolated shower or storm this afternoon — forecasters say the better chance for that is over the Rio Grande Plains and Coastal Plains, not directly over the city, with San Antonio’s own rain chance holding at just 11%. Tonight cools to a muggy low around 76°F under partly cloudy skies.

Best Window To Be Outside

If you’re mowing the lawn, walking the River Walk, or getting the kids to Woodlawn Lake Park, aim for before 10 AM CT or after 7 PM CT when the sun angle drops. Midday heat index near 100°F makes anything strenuous outdoors risky, especially for folks near Lackland or Fort Sam Houston with outdoor duty schedules — pace activity and hydrate often.

Heat Risk Through Midweek

Wednesday holds nearly identical with a sunny high near 95°F and heat index again near 100°F, and Thursday stays hot and dry as the ridge strengthens further, per the NWS Area Forecast Discussion. No severe weather or flooding is expected in our area right now, but keep an eye on the weekend — increased moisture is forecast to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms by Saturday and Sunday, with a possible slight drop in temperatures.

What To Wear Or Bring

Light, breathable clothing and sunscreen are musts. For the yard, water vegetable beds early with a soaker hose for garden beds instead of a sprinkler to cut evaporation loss in this heat. Cooling off matters more than ever — a kiddie splash pad in the backyard is an easy win for kids, and keep an insulated tumbler 30oz filled with ice water if you’re outside for any stretch.

Over in Austin, Dude Perfect brings their Squad Games Tour 2026 to Moody Center ATX on Thursday, July 9 — expect similarly hot, dry conditions for anyone tailgating or heading up I-35. Grab tickets on SeatGeek, and gear up with a Dude Perfect t-shirt, Dude Perfect hoodie, or Dude Perfect hat for the show.

Dinner Idea

With highs near 94°F, skip the stove tonight — a cold Thai noodle salad, a build-your-own wrap bar, or smoothie bowls made in a high-powered blender all keep the kitchen cool. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Expect sunny and hot conditions Wednesday and Thursday, both near 95°F, before increased moisture brings scattered storms and slightly cooler air into the weekend.
