San Antonio is starting the week with a partly sunny Monday and a high near 89°F, but the National Weather Service has a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10 AM and 4 PM CT — so keep that packable rain jacket within reach before you head out.
Today’s Setup
High pressure is slowly rebuilding over Texas after several days of stormy weather, but deep Gulf moisture hasn’t cleared out yet. NWS forecasters at the Austin/San Antonio office say a sea-breeze push out of the south-southeast will fuel isolated to scattered storm development during the midday hours. Precipitable water values are running between 2 and 2.3 inches — high enough that any cell that fires could dump a quick, efficient downpour. Most of the Alamo City should see less than a tenth of an inch of rain, but spots along the Hill Country fringe could see a touch more. Winds stay light at 5 to 10 mph SSE with gusts to 20 mph.
Best Window To Be Outside
Get your outdoor errands done before 10 AM CT. After that, the storm window opens across the River Walk, Brackenridge Park, the San Antonio Missions area, and points east through early afternoon. By 5 PM the threat drops considerably and the evening should be manageable — if humid. Toss a compact travel umbrella into your bag for anything between late morning and mid-afternoon.
Rain and Heat Risk
No severe weather is expected in South Texas today — the Storm Prediction Center has no convective outlook for our area. The WPC’s flooding concerns today are focused on the Ozarks region, well north of us. That said, San Antonio sits squarely in Flash Flood Alley: even a modest downpour can overwhelm low-water crossings near Leon Creek, Salado Creek, or the downtown drainage network. Never drive through a flooded road. If you’re walking trails near the greenway or Medina River, waterproof hiking boots are a smart call.
Events This Week
Spurs fans — circle June 13 for NBA Finals Game 5 (if necessary): the San Antonio Spurs host the New York Knicks at Frost Bank Center. It’s an indoor venue, so weather is no factor, but you’ll want your Official team gear on Fanatics before tip-off. The following night, the Don Toliver Octane Tour hits Frost Bank Center on June 14 — grab a Don Toliver t-shirt and Find tickets on StubHub. Also worth the I-35 drive: the Charlie Puth Whatever’s Clever! World Tour plays Moody Center ATX on Thursday, June 11 — Get tickets on SeatGeek.
Dinner Idea
A steamy afternoon with pop-up storms is a perfect excuse to set a programmable slow cooker before lunch and come home to a pot of chili or beef stew. Or go stovetop with an enameled cast iron Dutch oven and a big pot of soup — either way, you’ll earn it after a sticky June afternoon. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Tuesday heats up to a high near 91°F with heat index values approaching 100°F and almost no rain chance. From mid-week on, the National Weather Service expects high pressure to strengthen, shutting down storm chances but pushing heat indices into the triple digits most afternoons. Hydrate, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak hours (noon–4 PM CT), and check on neighbors — classic Alamo City summer has officially arrived.
