7-Day Forecast

Sun 85°Sunny
Mon 90°Sunny
Tue 89°Sunny
Wed 90°Sunny

Sacramento kicks off Thursday with clear skies and a high near 88°F — a classic Central Valley summer day, and a good one to get outside before a welcome cooling trend arrives this weekend.

Today’s Setup

High pressure is holding firm over the region, delivering full sunshine and light south-southwest winds of 3 to 9 mph through the afternoon. The National Weather Service calls Thursday a “transition day” as the pattern slowly shifts. Temps will peak near 88°F — warm, but well short of our triple-digit summer ceiling. The Delta Breeze returns tonight, easing overnight lows to around 59°F with south winds picking up to about 10 mph and gusts near 20 mph. Whether you’re walking Capitol Park, cycling the American River Parkway, or hitting McKinley Park, today is comfortable and manageable. Load up on SPF 50 sunscreen before heading out — the June sun is no joke even at 88°F.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning through early afternoon is the sweet spot today. Friday remains sunny at a slightly cooler 84°F, but south winds ramp up to 8 to 14 mph with gusts reaching 24 mph — still very pleasant, just breezy. It’s prime floating weather on the American River this week; the 2-Person Intex Floating Lounge with Cooler Just $24 on Amazon is a steal if you haven’t grabbed one yet. Toss on some quick dry swim trunks and men’s sport sandals and make an afternoon of it.

Rain, Wind, and Fire Risk

No rain for Sacramento proper through at least Saturday. The National Weather Service notes a Pacific trough will push into the Pacific Northwest this weekend, increasing onshore flow Friday into Saturday with a slight chance — around 10 to 20% — of light showers in far northern areas like the Burney Basin and southern Cascades. The valley floor stays dry.

The bigger watch is Sunday into Monday. NWS Sacramento forecasters are flagging a potential north wind event that could bring elevated fire weather conditions to the foothills and surrounding areas. Timing and strength still carry uncertainty, so check the updated Sacramento weather forecast as the weekend develops.

Weekend Events: Norteño Night and A’s Baseball

Palomazo Norteño - Clase Maestra Tour hits Golden 1 Center on Saturday, June 27. Get tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub before they’re gone — Golden 1 is right in Midtown, easy walking distance from Capitol Mall. Represent at the show with a Palomazo Norteno t-shirt or Palomazo Norteno hat; if the evening turns breezy, a Palomazo Norteno hoodie is handy.

Then on Monday, June 29, the Athletics host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Sutter Health Park — a marquee matchup worth circling. Pick up Official team gear on Fanatics and Get tickets on SeatGeek while inventory lasts. Heading to the parking lot early? A portable propane grill turns pre-game into a full cookout. Check back on Sunday’s forecast before heading out, given the potential for north winds that day.

Dinner Tonight

A light pasta or quick stir-fry is a perfect call for a warm Thursday evening — fast prep, minimal time heating up the kitchen. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered to your door before dinner. Browse outdoor gear deals if you’re stocking up for the weekend float or game-day spread.

Next Few Days

  • Friday: Sunny, 84°F, south winds 8–14 mph, gusts to 24 mph
  • Saturday: Breezy and cooler; minor shower chance stays far north; Golden 1 concert conditions look fine
  • Sunday–Monday: Monitor for a north wind event and potential elevated fire weather in the foothills — NWS Sacramento will refine the forecast as it gets closer
