Sacramento weather Thursday brings sunny skies and a pleasant 73°F high after lingering light showers clear out by this evening.

If you’re planning to head downtown to the Golden 1 Center for Third Day’s 30th Anniversary Tour with special guest Zach Williams tonight (Thursday at 7 PM), you’ll want to grab a Third Day t-shirt, Third Day hoodie, or Third Day hat beforehand—the weather will be perfect for arriving early and soaking in the pre-show atmosphere. Conditions overnight will stay mostly clear with lows around 45°F, so a Third Day hoodie will keep you comfortable as you leave the venue after the show.

This morning’s scattered showers and mountain snow (up to 1–2 inches above 4,500 feet in the Sierra foothills) are expected to wrap up by early evening as a dry northwest flow takes over. If you’re heading to the American River Parkway or any of Sacramento’s outdoor recreation areas, wait until late morning when conditions fully clear. Pollen counts may spike as allergens stir with the clearing weather, so keep antihistamines handy if you’re sensitive.

Thursday is an excellent day to:

  • Mow your lawn — the dry, calm conditions (3–7 mph northwest winds) are ideal. Consider applying lawn fertilizer spring while you’re at it to take advantage of the moisture from this morning’s rain.
  • Grill dinner — temperatures will be comfortable in the mid-60s by evening. A simple pasta or stir-fry pairs perfectly with grilled vegetables or chicken.
  • Visit outdoor spaces — the foothills and areas around Folsom Lake will be gorgeous by afternoon.

If you’re planning a hammock with stand session in your backyard or a picnic at one of the valley’s parks, Thursday afternoon is your window before clouds return Friday.

Looking ahead: Friday will be partly sunny with a high near 71°F, but mountain showers and isolated thunderstorms develop Friday into early next week—mostly affecting higher elevations. Downtown Sacramento and the valley floor should stay dry, though keep an eye on mountain road conditions if you’re heading toward Tahoe.

For tonight’s dinner, consider grilling or preparing something light. You can order groceries on Amazon Fresh to stock up on fresh vegetables, proteins, and an insulated water bottle to stay hydrated as temperatures warm through the afternoon.

Stay weather-aware, and enjoy Sacramento’s spring sunshine while it lasts!
