Riverside and San Bernardino are in for a classic Inland Empire Sunday: sunny skies, a high near 94°F, and a west wind of 0 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph — comfortable enough to get outside as long as you respect the afternoon heat and plan around it.
Today’s Setup
The National Weather Service in San Diego says an upper-level high parked over the Central Rockies is keeping the Inland Empire in a stable, near-seasonal pattern through Tuesday. Morning low clouds may nose into the western valleys before clearing by late morning, then it’s wall-to-wall sun with a low tonight around 68°F. Monday looks like a repeat: mostly sunny, high near 94°F, low around 68°F overnight.
Best Window To Be Outside
Mornings are your friend this week. Get outside before 10 a.m. for yard work, a walk around Fairmount Park, or a round of golf — grab the Pinemeadow Golf hybrids if you’re shaking off a rusty long game before the midday heat sets in. Anglers should be on the water at first light too; a portable fish finder and a few Strike King Crankbaits (from $6 at Bass Pro Shops) can make an early trip to Lake Perris or the Santa Ana River worthwhile before the sun climbs high.
Storm & Heat Risk
Forecasters say afternoon shower chances stay confined to the higher peaks of the San Bernardino Mountains (about 15%), with thunderstorm odds under 10% — Riverside and San Bernardino proper should stay dry. The Weather Prediction Center’s slight risk for excessive rainfall this week is centered over Arizona and southern Utah, not directly over us, but if you’re headed up to Big Bear or Joshua Tree, keep an eye on building afternoon clouds over the peaks and avoid canyons and washes during any storm activity.
Local Games & Events
The Los Angeles Angels host the Detroit Tigers at Angel Stadium today and the St. Louis Cardinals on July 21 and 22 — sunny, hot tailgating conditions all three days, so pack water and sunscreen. Grab a Los Angeles Angels jersey or Los Angeles Angels fitted cap and find tickets on StubHub or get tickets on SeatGeek before you head out. Closer to home, Imagine Dragons plays Yaamava Resort & Casino at San Manuel on July 23 (21 and over) — a solid excuse for an Imagine Dragons t-shirt, Imagine Dragons hoodie, or Imagine Dragons hat, with tickets on SeatGeek.
Dinner Tonight
With clear skies and light wind, tonight is built for the grill. Fire up burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob, and check our guide on how to smoke tri-tip like brisket. An instant-read meat thermometer and a grill brush and scraper set will make cleanup and doneness a lot less guesswork. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Expect near-seasonal mid-90s highs Monday and Tuesday, then a slow warm-up Wednesday through the weekend as the ridge shifts east. Mountain shower chances tick up again late next week, so keep outdoor plans flexible if you’re heading toward Big Bear.
