Portland weather Saturday is shaping up to be mostly sunny with a high near 73°F—one of those genuinely pleasant spring days that makes you want to get outside and actually enjoy it.

Overnight into Saturday morning will be cool but not as harsh as recent nights, with lows around 43°F and mostly cloudy skies. If you’re in the southern Willamette Valley or Upper Hood River Valley (think Salem or Hood River), a Frost Advisory is in effect through Saturday morning, so cover any tender plants or delay planting until Sunday. For most of Portland proper—from the Pearl District to Sellwood—frost risk is lower, though gardeners in sheltered valley spots should still keep an eye on thermometers.

Saturday itself is the clear winner this weekend. Light south-southeast winds around 3 mph mean the Columbia River Gorge won’t be whipping up the usual wind-tunnel conditions, making it ideal for a hike through Forest Park or a leisurely walk along the Willamette waterfront near OMSI. If you’ve been meaning to get out to the Gorge for some trail time, this is your day—visibility will be excellent for views of Mount Hood.

The National Weather Service notes only a 3% chance of precipitation, so you can safely plan outdoor activities without worrying about rain. This is also a great day to fire up the grill in your Northeast or Southeast Portland backyard, or grab a table at one of the outdoor patios downtown. Bring a light jacket for early morning (it’ll be in the low 40s), but by midday you’ll be comfortable in shirtsleeves.

One heads-up: spring pollen counts are ramping up this time of year. If allergies have been bothering you, consider grabbing an allergy relief nasal spray or a pollen count face mask before heading out on longer hikes. If you’re spending a lot of time indoors, a HEPA air purifier can really help manage indoor pollen levels while you’re planning your outdoor adventures.

Saturday night will cool to around 50°F with increasing clouds, but still mostly dry. Sunday bumps up slightly to 76°F with mostly cloudy skies—still pleasant, though a bit less sunny.

With this weather, a light dinner makes sense: think fresh pasta primavera with spring vegetables or a stir-fry with whatever greens are at the farmers market. Did you know you can order groceries on Amazon? Get everything you need for tonight’s dinner delivered straight to your door.

Looking ahead: Enjoy this weekend window—confidence is building for a significant pattern change early next week with an upper-level low moving in offshore, bringing cooler temps and increased rain chances. Saturday and Sunday are your golden tickets.
