Portland weather Saturday is shaping up to be absolutely gorgeous—sunny skies, a high near 69°F, and just a light north breeze of 3 to 8 mph. This is one of those early spring days that makes you forget all about our rainy reputation.

If you’re heading downtown to the Moda Center for the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Spurs playoff game on Sunday (wait, that’s actually Sunday, April 26), you’ll want to know: the weather will cooperate beautifully for tailgating beforehand. Saturday itself is perfect for getting outside—grab Official team gear on Fanatics to show your Blazers pride, and if you’re planning a pre-game cookout, conditions will be ideal. Light winds mean your portable propane grill won’t give you any trouble, and you won’t need a jacket during the day.

The National Weather Service notes that a dry shortwave trough moves through Saturday, keeping showers confined mainly to the Cascades. Here in the metro—from the Willamette Valley through Northeast Portland and out toward the Gorge—we’ll stay dry and pleasant. If you’re heading to PK Park for Oregon Ducks Baseball against Penn State on Sunday, bring sunglasses; afternoon highs will climb to near 70°F with mostly clear skies.

One heads-up: Frost is possible tonight (Friday into Saturday morning) across the southern Willamette Valley and Upper Hood River Valley, so if you’ve got tender plants or a garden, cover them up. The National Weather Service has issued frost advisories for Lane and Linn counties, and patchy frost could reach as far north as the south Washington lowlands. If you’re planning to plant that vegetable seed variety pack you’ve been eyeing, wait until Sunday afternoon when frost risk drops.

For allergy sufferers—and late April can be rough with pollen counts rising—consider stocking up on allergy relief nasal spray or Zyrtec 24 hour allergy 90 count before the weekend. A pollen count face mask might also help if you’re doing yard work Saturday afternoon.

Looking ahead, Sunday stays sunny and warm (high 70°F), but chances for light showers creep up Sunday into early next week, especially over the Cascades. Drier weather returns by Wednesday.

Dinner idea: Saturday’s perfect for grilling. Fire up that propane grill for tri-tip or salmon, pair it with fresh veggies, and eat outside while the sun’s still up. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
