Phoenix is sunny and climbing toward 106°F today, so if you’ve got yardwork, a trail run, or errands on your list, knock them out before mid-morning and save the afternoon for the pool or the AC.
Today’s Setup
After an overnight low around 77°F, the National Weather Service in Phoenix expects a mostly sunny day with a high near 106°F and light south wind around 0 to 5 mph. High clouds will spread in by late morning as a ridge of high pressure builds over the desert Southwest, but forecasters say those clouds should stay thin enough that they won’t cut into the heat much. No rain is expected today.
Best Window To Be Outside
Get outside early. Anyone hitting Camelback Mountain or South Mountain should be on the trail at sunrise, and golfers should grab the earliest tee time they can get — dry air and light wind make for great, if hot, golf conditions before 9 a.m. By afternoon, the heat makes outdoor exertion risky.
Heat Risk Building Through The Weekend
According to the NWS Area Forecast Discussion, the subtropical ridge will keep strengthening through the weekend and into next week, with temperatures reaching above normal levels by around Monday and highs eventually near 110°F — bringing increasing coverage of Moderate Heat Risk. Saturday, Independence Day, still tops out near 106°F with mostly cloudy skies; forecasters note a stray sprinkle can’t be ruled out Saturday into Sunday from leftover tropical moisture, but no meaningful rain is expected in the Valley. Drink water often, avoid the noon-to-6 p.m. window outdoors, and grab a UV protection sun hat before you head out.
What To Wear Or Bring
Light, breathable clothing, sunscreen, and a UV protection sun hat are musts. Heading to see Hilary Duff at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre tonight? It’s an outdoor venue, so bring water and dress light — it’ll still be warm at showtime before cooling toward tonight’s low near 82°F. Grab Hilary Duff t-shirt merch and get tickets on SeatGeek or find tickets on StubHub before they’re gone.
Diamondbacks Weather For The Fourth
The Arizona Diamondbacks host the Milwaukee Brewers at Chase Field on July 4, with the series continuing July 5. Tailgating outside Chase Field will be scorching near 106°F, so pack a rolling cooler with wheels, hydrate constantly, and gear up in an Arizona Diamondbacks jersey and Arizona Diamondbacks fitted cap for the game.
Tonight’s Dinner: Fire Up The Grill
This is textbook grilling weather — burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob all work great tonight. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of doneness, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps grates ready to go. Next Few Days
Expect Saturday’s Fourth of July to run mostly cloudy and near 106°F with only a slim shot at a sprinkle, followed by a low around 85°F Saturday night. From there, the ridge tightens its grip — highs keep climbing toward 110°F by around Monday per the NWS, so plan for an increasingly dangerous heat stretch heading into next week.
