Philadelphia is waking up to a sunny Sunday with a high near 85°F, light east wind around 5 mph, and zero chance of rain — one of the more comfortable stretches we’ll see all week, so get outside today before the heat cranks up.
Today’s Setup
Sunny skies hold all day with that gentle 5 mph breeze out of the east keeping things pleasant rather than sticky. Tonight cools off nicely to a low around 65°F under partly cloudy skies. According to the National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office, the region stays “relatively tranquil and seasonable” through Monday, when temperatures climb to a high near 86°F under more sunshine.
Best Window To Be Outside
With no rain in the forecast and light wind all day, basically any hour works — this is prime golf weather, and a stroll, run, or bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail will be about as good as it gets before the humidity builds later this week. Evenings are especially nice, with temps easing into the mid-60s after sunset — great for a patio dinner under some outdoor string lights.
Rain, Wind, Fire, Or Heat Risk
No severe weather or flooding concerns for the city today. The one thing to flag: NWS has raised the rip current risk to MODERATE at all Jersey Shore beaches today, and a new Coastal Flood Advisory kicks in tonight for the South Jersey and Delaware coasts and all of Delaware Bay, with minor tidal flooding expected around the evening high tide — worth knowing before a shore run to Atlantic City, Wildwood, or Cape May. Looking ahead, above-normal heat takes over starting Tuesday (high near 91°F) and NWS says Wednesday may need heat headlines, so this sunny, mild Sunday is the calm before the warm-up.
What To Wear Or Bring
A lightweight linen shirt and SPF 50 sunscreen cover today’s sun just fine — UV will be strong under those clear skies even with the moderate temps.
Concerts This Week
Bob Dylan plays TD Pavilion at Highmark Mann on Tuesday, July 14, and Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire bring their Sing a Song All Night Long tour to Xfinity Mobile Arena on Thursday, July 16 — check out our Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire weather guide and grab a Lionel Richie t-shirt or get tickets on SeatGeek. If you’re heading to Death Cab for Cutie at TD Pavilion at Highmark Mann on Friday, July 17, keep an eye on the sky — the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk for severe weather that day.
Tonight’s Dinner
This is textbook grilling weather — burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob are calling your name. An instant-read meat thermometer and a grill brush and scraper set make cleanup and doneness a breeze. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
For more ways to make the most of the sunshine, check out outdoor gear deals, including the 2-Person Intex Floating Lounge with Cooler — handy once the shore trip happens.
Next Few Days
Monday stays sunny near 86°F, then temperatures jump to near 91°F Tuesday as above-normal heat settles in through the rest of the week, with Wednesday possibly needing heat headlines. Friday brings the week’s most active weather, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms — some potentially severe.
