7-Day Forecast

Today 88°Partly Sunny...
Sat 85°Chance Rain ...
Sun 86°Sunny
Mon 87°Sunny
Tue 90°Sunny
Wed 94°Sunny
Thu 94°Mostly Sunny

Philadelphia hits a muggy high near 88°F today, with a mostly sunny morning giving way to a chance of showers and thunderstorms rolling in between 2 and 4 PM ET. The National Weather Service says a slow-moving cold front is the trigger, and while today should be less soggy than yesterday, it’s still smart to plan your afternoon around the storm risk.

Today’s Setup

Winds stay light out of the west at 5 to 10 mph under partly sunny skies through midday. The National Weather Service’s Mount Holly office notes a Marginal Risk (1 of 5) for severe weather this afternoon and evening as the front sags through — a modest instability setup with weaker wind shear, so widespread severe storms aren’t expected, but a stronger cell can’t be ruled out. There’s also a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall, though the flash flood signal is notably lower than yesterday’s soaking.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning through early afternoon is your play today — get errands, yard work, or a walk on the Schuylkill River trail done before 2 PM. Saturday flips the script: showers are likely before 2 PM, then another round of storms arrives in the 2-3 PM window, so a morning outing beats an afternoon one there too. Sunday and beyond look drier as the front finally clears out.

Rain, Wind, Or Flood Risk

Tonight’s low sits near 71°F with a lingering chance of storms before 8 PM. Saturday’s high near 85°F comes with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms, heavier than today’s. If storms train over urban pavement or areas already saturated from recent rain, localized flooding is possible — keep an eye on radar if you’re out. The National Weather Service also flags minor tidal flooding this weekend for coastal communities and areas around Delaware Bay, worth noting if you’re headed to Atlantic City, Wildwood, or Cape May. A waterproof phone pouch is a cheap way to keep your phone dry and radar-ready if you get caught out.

What To Wear Or Bring

Light, breathable clothes for the heat and humidity, plus a rain layer for the afternoon pop-up chance. Given the severe risk, it’s worth having backup power on hand — the DARAN 288Wh Power Station deal is a smart, affordable option if storms knock out power for a few hours.

Weekend In Philly

If you’re staying in the city, Rick Ross & the Renaissance Orchestra hits The Met Presented by Highmark on July 11, and Louis Tomlinson plays the outdoor Skyline Stage at Highmark Mann the same night — with Saturday’s storm chance, an umbrella or poncho isn’t a bad call for that one. Grab tickets on SeatGeek or find tickets on StubHub before they’re gone.

On a soggy night like tonight, a big pot of comfort food beats standing over a hot grill — slow cooker chili, beef stew, or soup all fit the mood. A programmable slow cooker or an enameled cast iron Dutch oven makes it easy. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Expect one more round of storms Saturday before drier, warmer conditions settle in by Sunday and carry into next week, per the National Weather Service.
