Orlando is in for another scorcher today, with highs near 95°F, a Heat Advisory in effect for Orange County and areas north, and afternoon storms rolling in after 2 PM — get outdoor plans done early and keep water within reach.

Today’s Setup

The National Weather Service in Melbourne says a strong ridge sliding southeast will keep us hot and humid, with deep moisture (PWATs near 2 to 2.15 inches) fueling scattered storms that develop after 2 PM and peak in the late afternoon and early evening before drifting offshore overnight. Heat index values could hit 105-109°F under mostly sunny morning skies, which is why the Heat Advisory is up for Orange and northern Brevard counties today. Wind stays light out of the west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning through about 1 PM is your clearest stretch — good timing for a walk around Lake Eola Park or getting to the front of the line at Disney, Universal, or SeaWorld before the sky turns. Once the sea breeze collides with that SW flow after 2 PM, expect quick-hitting storms with lightning and gusts up to 55 mph, so have an indoor backup plan for early evening.

Heat, Storm, And Flood Risk

The heat is today’s headline threat — 95°F air temps feel like 105 to 109°F. Slow storm motion and steep low-level lapse rates also mean any storm cell can dump heavy rain fast, so low-lying and poor-drainage spots around town could see minor flooding. A patio umbrella 10ft is worth setting up for shaded relief at home, and an insulated tumbler 30oz keeps water cold if you’re out and about. Check out outdoor gear deals while you’re at it, including a UPF 50+ Sun Hoodie that’s handy for anyone fishing or hanging poolside in this sun.

What To Wear Or Bring

Light, breathable clothing is the move — quick dry swim trunks or a swimsuit if a pool break is in the cards, plus sport sandals for splashing around. Sunscreen and that water bottle are non-negotiable with heat index near 109°F.

Concerts And Orlando City SC This Week

Lord Huron plays Hard Rock Live Orlando tomorrow, July 29 — grab tickets on SeatGeek before the afternoon storm window closes tomorrow. The next night, July 30, catch Melanie Martinez’s HADES: THE SACRIFICE at Kia Center; a Melanie Martinez t-shirt makes a solid souvenir. Orlando City SC is home August 1 at Inter&Co Stadium — find tickets on StubHub and pick up official team gear on Fanatics to cheer them on.

Dinner Tonight

It’s too hot to stand over a stove tonight. Go with a cold Thai noodle salad, a build-your-own wrap bar, or smoothie bowls — a high-powered blender makes quick work of any of those. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Wednesday looks like a repeat: 94°F with another possible Heat Advisory and a 36-40% storm chance. NWS Melbourne’s key messages flag increasing storm coverage Thursday and Friday, with a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall both days — worth watching if you’ve got weekend plans taking shape.

Upcoming Home Games

Plan around the forecast — grab tickets, gear up, and see kickoff conditions.
