New York City is waking up to one of the nicest days of early summer — sunny skies, a high near 76°F, and barely a cloud in sight. Get outside and enjoy it; summer heat is building fast toward the end of the week.

Today’s Setup

A departing upper-level trough is pushing offshore this morning, with high pressure building in from the west. That spells wall-to-wall sunshine, a light northeast breeze around 7 mph, and a rain chance so low it’s essentially zero (just 1%). Temperatures peak near 76°F before easing back to around 73°F by mid-afternoon — comfortable, breezy, and low-humidity. Tonight stays beautiful: mostly clear skies, a low around 63°F, and a gentle south wind around 7 mph. Open those windows.

Best Window To Be Outside

Honestly, the whole day. Whether you’re walking the High Line, circling the Central Park reservoir, or heading to Prospect Park for a picnic, you’ll have ideal conditions from morning through sunset. Golfers, this is your week — grab a golf hat visor and book a tee time before Friday’s heat arrives. There’s no urgency to rush; today stays comfortable all day long.

Yankees Gameday Weather

The New York Yankees host the Cleveland Guardians tonight at Yankee Stadium under perfect baseball conditions — clear skies, temps in the mid-70s at first pitch dipping to the upper 60s by the late innings. Tailgating in the South Bronx lots couldn’t be easier. Deck out in your New York Yankees jersey and New York Yankees fitted cap, and if you still need seats, Get tickets on SeatGeek before they’re gone.

The Guardians series wraps Thursday (another sunny day, high near 78°F), then the Boston Red Sox arrive Friday and Saturday — right as temperatures surge. The National Weather Service’s Area Forecast Discussion projects lower to mid-90s for metro and inland locations by Friday afternoon and Saturday. If Broadway is calling Thursday, Hamilton plays June 4 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre — no weather worries there.

Rain, Wind, or Heat Risk

No significant weather threats today or Thursday. But brace for a real heat-up: the National Weather Service says Friday and Saturday could bring lower to mid-90s to the metro area. The silver lining — humidity stays manageable, with dew points expected between 55–60°F, so heat indices shouldn’t exceed actual air temperatures. No heat headlines are expected, but stay hydrated.

Then late Saturday evening or Saturday night, an approaching cold front brings unsettled conditions likely lingering into Sunday. The NWS notes uncertainty in timing, but most of Saturday should remain dry.

Dinner Tonight: Fire Up the Grill

Tonight’s conditions are textbook grilling weather. Fire up the propane gas grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. Use an instant-read meat thermometer to nail your doneness every time, and keep a grill brush and scraper set ready for cleanup. Craving something different? Next Few Days

  • Thursday, June 4: Sunny, high near 78°F — another excellent day.
  • Friday, June 5: Mostly sunny and heating up fast; NWS projects lower 90s for metro locations.
  • Saturday: Similar or hotter, mid-90s possible inland; unsettled conditions arrive by evening.
  • Sunday: Likely cloudy and unsettled as the cold front works through.
