New York, NY weather today is sunny with a high near 80°F, light east winds around 6 to 10 mph, and essentially no chance of rain — one of the more comfortable summer days we’ve had, so get outside while the humidity is still low.
Today’s Setup
The National Weather Service says Canadian high pressure is building into the region today through Monday, keeping skies clear with dew points down in the low 60s. That’s the kind of dry, seasonable warmth that makes Central Park, Prospect Park, and the Hudson River Greenway feel great instead of sticky. Overnight lows only dip to around 68°F before creeping back toward 71°F by daybreak, so mornings will already feel mild.
Best Window To Be Outside
With light east wind and low humidity holding all day, basically any hour works for outdoor plans today. If you’re golfing, midday through late afternoon is the sweet spot — comfortable temps and calm wind won’t mess with your swing. Bring along the Pinemeadow Golf wedges if you’re working on your short game this weekend.
Heat And Tidal Flooding On The Way
Enjoy today and Monday, because forecasters say the pattern flips by midweek. Return south/southwest flow pulls dew points up into the low 70s as we head toward Tuesday, and an upper-level ridge builds in behind it, pushing highs into the 90s with heat index values of 95°F or higher Tuesday and Wednesday — possibly topping 100°F Wednesday afternoon. A Heat Advisory looks likely if that trend holds. Separately, tonight’s high tide will run a bit elevated thanks to the approaching new moon on July 14 combined with onshore flow, so low-lying coastal spots should watch for minor tidal flooding around the evening high tide.
Mets, Jay-Z, And Gameday Gear
The New York Mets host the Boston Red Sox at Citi Field today under those same sunny, 80°F skies — about as good as tailgating weather gets. Grab a New York Mets jersey or New York Mets fitted cap before first pitch, and Get tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub if you’re still hunting for seats. Across town, Jay-Z’s Extra Innings show at Yankee Stadium is also on tonight’s calendar — check our full concert weather rundown before you head out, and pick up a JAY-Z t-shirt to complete the look.
What To Wear, Grill, And Eat Tonight
Light layers and men’s sport sandals are all you need in this dry warmth. With clear skies and no rain in sight, tonight is a genuine grilling night — fire up the propane gas grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob, and keep an instant-read meat thermometer and grill brush and scraper set handy. If you’re stocking the freezer, this week’s pork loin deal is worth a look for smoking a cheap cut alongside dinner. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Monday stays sunny and pleasant with a high near 81°F, then humidity climbs ahead of a hot, sticky Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the 90s and a possible Heat Advisory. Relief arrives late week as a trough pushes the heat out Thursday into Friday. Browse our outdoor gear deals to get set up before the heat returns.
