Miami weather today (Saturday, August 8) is sunny with a high near 89°F, but heat index values will feel more like 105°F, so plan any long outdoor stretches for early morning or evening and treat the beach with extra caution today.

Today’s Setup

The National Weather Service says deep high pressure anchored over the western Atlantic is pulling in slightly drier air today, which should keep rain chances low right along the coast — the best shot at afternoon storms is well inland toward Southwest Florida and Lake Okeechobee. Winds stay southeast around 13 mph. Sunday looks similar, near 89°F, with the ridge sliding southwest and a more typical sea-breeze pattern setting up: isolated morning showers near the coast before activity shifts inland and toward the Gulf by afternoon.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning before 11 AM or after sunset around 8 PM is your sweet spot for South Beach, Key Biscayne, or a jog along Bayfront Park. It’s also solid golf weather — book an early tee time before the midday heat peaks. Light SE winds and mostly sunny skies make for a good fishing window on Biscayne Bay this morning too.

Rain, Wind, Fire, Or Heat Risk

The NWS has South Florida under a Moderate HeatRisk today, and persistent easterly winds are keeping a High Risk of rip currents in place through the weekend — swim only near a lifeguard stand and don’t fight a current sideways. A slight chance of showers and storms returns tonight between 8 PM and 3 AM, and again Sunday morning before 1 PM. No flash flood concern for Miami — the Weather Prediction Center’s excessive rainfall risk today is confined to coastal South Carolina and Georgia.

What To Wear Or Bring

Sunscreen, water, and something breathable — moisture wicking undershirts men help a lot on a heat-index day like this. Heading out on the water? The Score a UPF 50+ Sun Hoodie for Just $5 This Fishing Season deal is timed well for a morning on the bay.

Gameday & This Weekend’s Events

It’s a big sports day: Miami Marlins vs. Los Angeles Angels at loanDepot Park and Inter Miami CF vs. CF Monterrey in Leagues Cup action, both today. Grab Official team gear on Fanatics before puck — er, first pitch — or Get tickets on SeatGeek if you’re still deciding. Music fans have Deep Purple with Kansas at Hard Rock Live tomorrow night, and the 5 Seconds of Summer show hits Hard Rock Live August 12 — Find tickets on StubHub and pick up a 5 Seconds of Summer t-shirt for the show.

Dinner Tonight

With clear skies and light wind this evening, it’s ideal grilling weather — burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. An instant-read meat thermometer keeps things food-safe in the heat, and a grill brush and scraper set makes cleanup painless. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Sunday stays sunny near 89°F with a similar heat index and the same rip current risk at the beach, with better rain odds shifting toward the coast in the morning before pulling inland by afternoon. For more outdoor gear ideas, check out our outdoor gear deals roundup.
