Los Angeles is waking up to patchy fog this Saturday morning, with the marine layer expected to hang along the coast and through parts of the valleys until around 11 AM PT — then it’s mostly sunny skies and a comfortable high near 71°F, making it a genuinely nice late-spring day once the gray burns off.
Today’s Setup
Classic May Gray playbook. The National Weather Service says low clouds will cling to coastal neighborhoods — think Santa Monica, Venice, and into the western San Fernando Valley — before clearing midday. Once the sun takes over, south-southwest winds of 0 to 10 mph keep things breezy but not gusty near the shore. Overnight lows settle back around 58°F, with patchy fog returning after 11 PM. Sunday mirrors today almost exactly: fog before 11 AM, then mostly sunny with a high near 72°F.
Best Window To Be Outside
Aim for 11 AM to 6 PM PT. Griffith Park and Runyon Canyon will clear faster than the coast, so inland hikers get the better morning. The afternoon is genuinely pleasant for golf, a beach walk, or heading to Angel Stadium tonight for the Los Angeles Angels vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday Night Fireworks game — a perfect outdoor evening in Anaheim. Pick up a Los Angeles Angels jersey or Los Angeles Angels fitted cap to show your colors, and Get tickets on SeatGeek if you haven’t already locked in seats.
Fire and Wind Risk — Inland Communities
This is the part that matters most today. While the coast stays calm, the National Weather Service has issued High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories covering the mountains, Antelope Valley, and southwest Santa Barbara County through Sunday night. The Antelope Valley and adjacent western foothills face critical fire weather conditions today — low humidity combined with strong gusts is a dangerous mix. The rest of the interior sees elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions as well.
If you’re in those foothill or desert communities, avoid any outdoor burning and have a plan. Indoors, an air purifier for smoke can meaningfully improve air quality if a fire kicks up nearby — worth having on hand every season from here on out.
Allergy Watch
Dry, windy conditions are doing pollen no favors this weekend. If you’re sensitive, pack some allergy relief nasal spray before heading to open trails or parks. At home, Zyrtec 24 hour allergy 90 count is a solid all-day option for keeping symptoms in check through the breezy stretch.
Events This Weekend
Tonight is loaded. The Demi Lovato: It’s Not That Deep Tour plays the Kia Forum in Inglewood — fully indoors, so weather is zero factor. A Demi Lovato t-shirt is a great look for the show; Find tickets on StubHub if you’re still hunting. MVP MMA: Rousey v. Carano | Diaz v. Perry | Ngannou v. Lins is also tonight at Intuit Dome for fight fans. Tomorrow, The Sound of Music (Touring) opens at Hollywood Pantages Theatre. Looking further out, Florence + The Machine – Everybody Scream Tour hits the Kia Forum on May 19, and Angel City FC takes on Kansas City Current at BMO Stadium on May 20.
Dinner Tonight
With a full evening ahead, keep dinner simple and fast. A pasta or stir-fry comes together in under 30 minutes and leaves you plenty of time to get out the door. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered to your door before showtime.
Next Few Days
Sunday is nearly a carbon copy of today — fog clears by 11 AM PT, mostly sunny, high near 72°F. Wind advisories remain in effect through Sunday night. Monday brings a northeast wind shift, with possible advisory-level gusts in LA and Ventura counties. Next week temperatures climb, especially in the desert. Keep an eye on the Los Angeles weather forecast for daily updates as the pattern evolves.
