Monday Afternoon & Evening: Watch for Scattered Storms, Then Clear Skies Ahead
Hey neighbors! After yesterday’s heavy rain event that caught a lot of folks off guard, today’s looking much calmer—but we’re not totally out of the woods yet.
What to Expect Today
This afternoon and early evening, there’s a slight chance (about 20%) of showers and thunderstorms, mostly before 4 p.m. Nothing like yesterday’s downpours, but if you’re heading out, keep an eye on the sky. Temperatures will climb to around 81°F with south winds at 10–15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. It’s that classic spring weather where you might want to grab an umbrella just in case, but you probably won’t need it.
If you’re planning outdoor activities this afternoon—grilling, yard work, or a trip to one of our parks—you’re okay to go. Just be ready to duck inside if you see clouds building. The National Weather Service folks are watching scattered storms north of the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods overnight, so if you live up that way, keep your radar app handy before bed.
Tonight & Tomorrow: Your Window Clears Up
By tonight, things settle down. We’ll drop to around 71°F with mostly cloudy skies. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is your money day—partly sunny with a high near 82°F and only a 3% rain chance. Perfect for mowing the lawn, washing the car, or heading to Minute Maid Park if the Astros are playing. Winds stay light to moderate from the south.
Tuesday night stays dry and pleasant, dipping to 70°F. If you’ve got plans for a backyard gathering or outdoor dinner, Tuesday evening is your sweet spot.
Looking Ahead: Summer Arrives Early
Wednesday and Thursday are going to feel increasingly summer-like—we’re talking low to mid-80s with that Gulf Coast humidity creeping back in. It’s that transition period where you’ll want to make sure your AC is running smoothly.
Here’s the heads-up: rain chances increase next weekend as a cold front pushes into the region. So if you’ve been thinking about tackling outdoor projects or events, get them done by Thursday.
Gear Tip
Given yesterday’s rainfall and the chance of more moisture this week, now’s a good time to check your gutters and consider gutter guards if you’ve been putting that off. And if you’re someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, a quality rain jacket and waterproof boots are worth the investment during our rainy season.
Stay safe out there, and let’s hope this week’s improving pattern holds!
