Denver weather today is sunny and 83°F—nearly 20 degrees above normal for late April, and one of the nicest days we’ve had all spring. If you’ve been cooped up waiting for warm weather, today’s your green light to get outside and enjoy it.

The forecast is straightforward: mostly sunny skies across the Front Range and eastern plains, with light south-southeast winds of 3 to 8 mph and just a 2% chance of precipitation. Humidity will be very low, which is great for outdoor activities but means you should slather on the sunscreen—our thin mountain air lets UV rays through like nobody’s business. Even at 83°F, you can get burned faster than you’d think.

Perfect timing for baseball fans. The Colorado Rockies host the San Diego Padres at Coors Field tonight, and you couldn’t ask for better tailgating weather in the parking lots along Blake Street. Bring sunglasses and a light jacket for after the game when temperatures drop to around 54°F by evening. If you’re catching the Avalanche playoff game at Ball Arena tonight, you’ll appreciate the mild conditions for getting downtown.

This is an ideal day for hiking in the foothills—Washington Park, Wash Park, and the trails along Bear Creek will be packed, so get there early. Golfers should be out in force at courses across the metro; the light winds mean you can actually control your ball. If you’ve been thinking about mowing the lawn, today’s the day—the ground should be dry enough, and the pleasant temps mean you won’t overheat doing yard work.

The pollen count will be moderate to high given the warm, dry conditions and light winds that keep pollen suspended in the air. If you’re sensitive to spring allergies, consider wearing a pollen count face mask during outdoor activities, and keep allergy relief nasal spray handy. When you get home, a HEPA air purifier can help clear indoor air and give you some relief.

Temperatures will cool slightly tonight, dropping to around 54°F with mostly cloudy skies developing. Don’t put away the light jacket just yet—we’re in that classic Denver transition period where 50°F feels chilly after a warm day.

Looking ahead: Wednesday stays warm (84°F) but gets windier, with gusts up to 31 mph. The National Weather Service is warning of critical fire weather conditions Wednesday due to the gusty winds and very dry humidity—avoid any outdoor burning. A pattern change arrives Friday with cooler, unsettled weather moving in, so enjoy this two-day window while it lasts.

With weather this nice, you’ll want to fire up the grill tonight. A simple pasta primavera with fresh vegetables pairs perfectly with mild spring evenings—or go classic with grilled chicken and seasonal sides. Did you know you can order groceries on Amazon? Get everything you need for tonight’s dinner delivered straight to your door.
