7-Day Forecast

Wed 94°Mostly Sunny...
Thu 90°Partly Sunny...
Fri 93°Sunny
Sat 98°Sunny
Sun 99°Mostly Sunny...
Mon 96°Mostly Sunny...

Denver’s waking up to sunshine and a climb toward 95°F today, but the National Weather Service says that comfortable window won’t last all day — a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in after 3 PM MT, so wrap up outdoor plans before then.

Today’s Setup

A cool front slid across northern Colorado overnight, and forecasters at the NWS Denver/Boulder office note easterly low-level flow behind it is keeping today from being quite as hot as it could be. Denver should still reach near 95°F under mostly sunny skies before easing back to around 93°F in the afternoon. Wind stays light out of the northeast at 5 to 10 mph, gusting to 17 mph, with about a 20% chance of a stray storm.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning through early afternoon is your window — think a loop around Wash Park, mowing the lawn, or a round of golf before the heat and storm chances build. Aim for a tee time before 2 PM; a golf rangefinder and golf shoes men waterproof are handy in case the course is still damp. By late afternoon, outflow boundaries from mountain storms start pushing into the I-25 corridor.

Storm & Flash Flood Risk

The forecast discussion flags monsoon moisture streaming in, with precipitable water values running 150-175% above normal over the higher terrain — a setup for locally heavy rain. Models disagree on exactly where storms fire tonight: the HRRR and GFS favor Fort Collins northward, while the ECMWF leans toward the Denver metro. Increasing southeast flow after sunset raises the chance of heavier downpours, especially along the northern I-25 corridor, with a 30% chance of showers and storms overnight and a low around 68°F. Wednesday brings an even better shot (40% chance, high near 94°F), and the NWS says storm coverage and intensity keep increasing into Thursday, with some storms capable of locally heavy rainfall and a flash flooding threat — worth watching if you’re near Cherry Creek or the South Platte.

Gameday At Coors Field & This Week’s Concerts

The Colorado Rockies host the Washington Nationals at Coors Field this week, with games Tuesday night and Wednesday — the storm chance after 3 PM is the bigger factor for tonight’s tailgate, while Wednesday carries the higher rain risk. Grab a Colorado Rockies jersey or Colorado Rockies fitted cap and Get tickets on SeatGeek before first pitch. Music fans have options too: JOJI: SOLARIS hits Ball Arena Thursday, July 23 — pair it with a Joji t-shirt — and Olivia Dean plays Ball Arena Saturday, July 25, with an Olivia Dean hoodie to match.

Dinner Tonight & Next Few Days

With that afternoon warmth, tonight’s a good night to fire up the grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. An instant-read meat thermometer and grill brush and scraper set make it easy, and if you’re short on ingredients, you can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door. Storm chances stick around Wednesday and Thursday before coverage backs off Friday into the weekend, when temperatures climb back into the upper 90s to lower 100s across northeast Colorado.
