7-Day Forecast

Thu 89°Partly Sunny...
Fri 96°Sunny
Sat 99°Mostly Sunny...
Sun 99°Mostly Sunny
Mon 98°Mostly Sunny...
Tue 94°Partly Sunny...
Wed 92°Partly Sunny...

Denver’s high today tops out near 89°F under partly sunny skies, but the National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms are likely after noon — wrap up outdoor plans by lunchtime, since today’s storms carry a localized flash flood threat.

Today’s Setup

NWS Denver/Boulder says deep monsoon moisture is parked over the region, with precipitable water 150% to 200% above normal. SBCAPE readings of 1,500 to 2,000 j/kg over the plains mean the main threat is strong wet microbursts, similar to last evening. Stronger flow aloft will push storms through faster than the past couple of days, with activity building after noon and winding down by mid-to-late evening. Plains highs land in the mid-80s to lower 90s.

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning is the play — skies stay manageable before storms fire up after lunch. Golfers should tee off early with a golf push cart to move quickly between holes. Anglers hitting area lakes should also start at dawn; a topwater frog lure or catfish bait dip worms can produce before the pressure shifts.

Rain, Wind, Fire, Or Heat Risk

Flash flooding is today’s headline risk — heavy rain under any strong cell can pond quickly on roads, so avoid flooded intersections. Drier weather returns Friday and Saturday, but heat ramps up fast, with highs reaching the upper 90s to lower 100s across northeast Colorado from the weekend into early next week.

What To Wear Or Bring

Carry an insulated water bottle — monsoon humidity makes the heat feel sticky between storm cells. Men’s sport sandals work for errands between rain chances, but head for cover fast if a storm catches you outside given the microburst risk.

Tonight’s Concerts And Weekend Shows

Ball Arena hosts JOJI: SOLARIS tonight indoors, so storm timing isn’t a concern. Fans headed to Red Rocks Amphitheatre for The Strokes should plan around the afternoon storm window, which should clear by evening. Looking ahead, Megan Moroney: The Cloud 9 Tour plays Ball Arena July 28 under hot, dry skies — grab a Megan Moroney t-shirt, Megan Moroney hoodie, or Megan Moroney hat, or check tickets on SeatGeek. AC/DC’s POWER UP TOUR hits Empower Field At Mile High that same night; an AC/DC t-shirt makes a good tailgate pick for a warm evening.

Dinner Tonight

Once storms clear, evening temperatures ease into the mid-60s — good grilling weather for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. An instant-read meat thermometer and a grill brush and scraper set make the job easy. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door — Amazon Fresh groceries covers the basics.

Next Few Days

Friday turns sunny and hot with a high near 96°F as monsoon moisture backs off. Saturday stays mainly dry on the plains, highs upper 90s to lower 100s, with scattered mountain storms. Moisture increases again by Sunday, mostly over higher terrain, as an upper-level high builds across Colorado into next week. Check the Denver weather forecast and browse outdoor gear deals — anglers can grab Strike King crankbaits from $6 at Bass Pro Shops before the next fishing window.
