Denver hits a scorching 101°F today under sunny skies, with a Heat Advisory in effect for the I-25 corridor and Weld County from noon through Monday evening — so plan errands, workouts, and Coors Field trips around the coolest hours of the day.

Today’s Setup

The National Weather Service Denver/Boulder office says a strong upper-level ridge parked over the Desert Southwest is driving temperatures 12-17 degrees above normal across the urban corridor. Sunday’s high near 101°F comes with light southeast wind at 2 to 8 mph and zero rain chance. Overnight lows only drop to around 65°F before creeping back up to 68°F, meaning little relief before Monday’s second round of triple digits (high near 100°F, 15% precipitation chance as a cold front approaches late in the day).

Best Window To Be Outside

Morning is the move. Get dog walks around Wash Park or Cheesman Park, mowing, and yard work done before 10 AM, since afternoon heat builds fast and stays brutal into the evening. If you’re golfing, book the earliest tee time you can find — this counts as prime golf weather, just not midday golf weather.

Rain, Wind, Fire, Or Heat Risk

No rain is expected today, and the NWS flags elevated fire weather conditions across the eastern plains this afternoon, so skip any outdoor burning and be extra careful with anything that sparks. Heat is the real story: with poor overnight recovery and downsloping winds ahead of Monday’s front, confidence is high that the advisory holds through Monday evening.

What To Wear Or Bring

Light colors, sunscreen, and constant hydration are non-negotiable. An insulated water jug 1 gallon keeps drinks cold for a day at the ballpark or the trail, and a hydration running vest is worth it if you’re still logging miles in this heat. If you want extra sun coverage for time outside, the UPF 50+ Sun Hoodie deal is a cheap way to cover up.

Game Day & This Week’s Shows

The Colorado Rockies host the Kansas City Royals at Coors Field tonight — first pitch heat will be intense, so grab shade seating if you can and bring water. Gear up with a Colorado Rockies jersey or a Colorado Rockies fitted cap, and find tickets on StubHub if you’re headed down. The Broncos open Training Camp Session 3 at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit on Monday, another hot-weather watch. Looking ahead, Noah Kahan brings The Great Divide Tour to Coors Field on August 8 — check out our coverage from his recent tour stop, grab tickets on SeatGeek, and rep a Noah Kahan t-shirt.

Tonight’s Dinner

This is peak grilling weather — burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob are the move once the sun starts dropping. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of doneness, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps things clean between cookouts. Want to try something different? Check out our guide on smoking tri-tip like brisket. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Monday repeats today’s heat before a cold front arrives late in the day, dropping highs into the 70s or low 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Warm, generally dry conditions then stick around for the rest of the week, so this heat break won’t last long.

Upcoming Home Games

Plan around the forecast — grab tickets, gear up, and see kickoff conditions.
