Denver’s Saturday is shaping up hot and dry, with sunshine, a high near 95°F, and almost no chance of rain (1%) under a ridge of high pressure parked right over the state. If you’ve got outdoor plans, the National Weather Service says get them done early — this is the mild day before things really heat up.
Today’s Setup
Light north-northeast wind at 3 to 7 mph will do little to cut the heat as skies stay mostly clear from Wash Park to City Park. Overnight lows only dip to around 67°F before climbing back toward 70°F by early Sunday morning, per the forecast discussion out of the NWS Boulder office — so don’t expect much overnight relief.
Best Window To Be Outside
Morning is your friend today. Tee times at City Park Golf Course or a jog along the Cherry Creek Trail are best knocked out before 10 AM, while temperatures are still climbing. By early afternoon, pavement and open ballfields will be baking, so shift errands, mowing, or dog walks to before lunch.
Heat Risk Building Through Monday
The bigger story is what’s coming: a Heat Advisory takes effect for the Denver Metro/I-25 corridor from 10 AM Sunday through 9 PM Monday, with Sunday’s high forecast near 98°F. NWS forecasters say mid-level warming will push temperatures even higher than today. Mountain storms are possible into Sunday afternoon, but the plains — including the metro — should stay dry until a shift in moisture arrives Tuesday.
What To Wear Or Bring
Lightweight, breathable layers and constant hydration are the move through the weekend. Keep a Yeti rambler water bottle filled and handy, and if you’re headed to a pool or reservoir, pack a beach towel oversized and a women’s swimsuit for anyone tagging along. A 2-Person Intex Floating Lounge with Cooler is a solid way to beat the heat at Chatfield or Cherry Creek Reservoir this weekend.
Rockies, Red Rocks & Weekend Events
The Colorado Rockies host the Cincinnati Reds at Coors Field both today and Sunday — sunny, hot gameday conditions both dates, so sunscreen and that water bottle are non-negotiable for tailgating. Grab tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub, and gear up with a Colorado Rockies jersey or Colorado Rockies fitted cap. Tonight, catch the Tyler Childers show with Jon Batiste at Fiddlers Green, or String Cheese Incident at Red Rocks — both should see comfortable, dry evening temperatures in the upper 60s.
Tonight’s Dinner Idea
With this kind of dry, sunny heat, it’s perfect grilling weather — burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob are the move tonight. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of a hot grill, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps things clean between rounds. For more ideas, check out our pellet grill tri-tip guide. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Expect Sunday’s 98°F to be about as hot as it gets, with the Heat Advisory running through 9 PM Monday. Relief and monsoon moisture move in Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures and a better shot at thunderstorms.
