Charlotte is waking up to one of those genuinely perfect spring Tuesdays — mostly sunny skies, a high near 74°F, and a light east wind around 5 mph. Go outside. Seriously, clear your afternoon calendar if you can.
Today’s Setup
No rain, no humidity, no drama. Temperatures climb through the low 60s this morning and top out around 74°F this afternoon before a comfortable overnight low near 52°F under mostly clear skies. If you’re new to the Queen City, this is what Charlotte spring is supposed to feel like — enjoy it before summer humidity settles in for good.
One note for allergy sufferers: sunny, breezy days like today keep pollen moving. If you’re heading to Freedom Park or the greenways along Little Sugar Creek, bring your antihistamines.
Best Window to Be Outside
All day works. Morning walkers at Reedy Creek Nature Preserve will love the cool start. Golfers, this is a gift of a day — conditions are as clean as May gets. Charlotte FC Game Wednesday: Plan Accordingly
Charlotte FC hosts New York City FC at Bank of America Stadium on Wednesday, May 13. Daytime looks great — sunny with a high near 78°F. But the National Weather Service is tracking a weak cold front that could push showers and isolated thunderstorms through the area Wednesday evening, with a 40% chance of storms between 10 PM and 2 AM ET. The early evening window should be fine for tailgating, but have a backup plan if storms develop after 7 PM.

Rain, Wind, or Heat Risk
Nothing severe today — the Storm Prediction Center has no outlook for our area. Wednesday’s front is the only story this week, and the National Weather Service notes it will be “moisture starved,” so widespread heavy rain is unlikely. Thursday looks dry and briefly cooler before a warming trend builds Friday into the weekend.
Grill Night — Don’t Miss This Window
With a clear evening and temps dipping to a comfortable 52°F overnight, tonight is made for the backyard. Fire up the propane gas grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of doneness, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps your grates ready to go. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
- Wednesday: Sunny, high near 78°F — Charlotte FC game looks good early, storms possible after 7 PM ET (40% overnight)
- Thursday: Dry and briefly cooler, high near 74°F

Charlotte gets these beautiful spring windows less often than we’d like. Make the most of today.
