A cold front is pushing toward the region tonight, and a weather system tracking east from central Tennessee will help fire up scattered showers and thunderstorms after 4 PM ET, according to the National Weather Service. A few of those storms could produce damaging wind gusts — this isn’t just a routine pop-up shower situation. The front clears overnight, with any lingering storms ending before 8 PM ET and a much more comfortable low near 72°F.

Morning through early afternoon is your window. Hit the trails at McDowell Nature Preserve, get in a round at one of the area’s courses, or head to Freedom Park before noon.
