Boston is starting Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and a high near 81°F — get outside today, because Thursday is a full weather reset.
Today’s Setup
Light south winds of 1 to 10 mph and just a 1% chance of rain keep conditions comfortable all day long. The National Weather Service says dew points stay in check through the afternoon, so humidity won’t be an issue even as temperatures climb. It’s a great afternoon from the Esplanade along the Charles River to Castle Island in South Boston.
One thing to note: the NWS is watching high astronomical tides that could cause minor coastal flooding around Boston Harbor during the late evening high tide. If you’re in low-lying areas near the waterfront, keep an eye out tonight.
Best Window To Be Outside
All of it. Tonight’s Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park is set up beautifully — pleasant temperatures through the evening as lows settle near 61°F. Bring a Boston Red Sox jersey and a Boston Red Sox fitted cap for the full Kenmore Square experience. Still need seats? Find tickets on StubHub before the game sells out.
The concert slate is stacked tonight too: Bleachers Forever at MGM Music Hall at Fenway, Les Misérables at Citizens Opera House, and Yellowcard at Leader Bank Pavilion. Any of them are a great call on a night like this.
Rain and Wind Risk Thursday
Thursday flips the script. Rain showers are likely before 2 PM ET, then showers and thunderstorms develop through the afternoon — 80% precipitation chance with south winds gusting to 31 mph. The National Weather Service says the main severe weather threat sits to our west and south, but Boston will still see gusty, unsettled conditions. Get a pop-up canopy tent with weights secured before those gusts arrive.
The second Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays game at Fenway is also Thursday — expect possible delays as afternoon storms develop. Martin Garrix plays Agganis Arena Thursday night (indoors, so the show is fine) — Get tickets on SeatGeek if you’re going and budget extra time getting there in the wet.
Grill Wednesday Night
This is your window. Fire up burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob while the skies are clear. An instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of the cook, and a grill brush and scraper set keeps the grates ready to go. Need to stock up? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything at your door before dinner.
Next Few Days
Friday through the weekend looks genuinely lovely, per the National Weather Service — comfortable humidity and pleasant temperatures across the region. Jimmy Eat World’s 25 Years of Bleed American plays MGM Music Hall at Fenway on June 20, and Mumford & Sons brings the Prizefighter Tour to Fenway Park on June 22.
