Boston is shaking off a soggy Monday morning — the National Weather Service says any lingering showers should exit southern New England by 7–8 AM ET, giving way to partly sunny skies and a warm high near 85°F this afternoon. If your commute feels damp, stay patient: the back half of today looks much better, and the rest of the week is outstanding. Bookmark the Boston weather forecast for updates throughout the day.
Today’s Setup
Last night’s cold front is already pushing east, taking the humidity with it. Once skies clear this morning, dewpoints drop into the 50s — a welcome change after a muggy stretch — and west winds of 6 to 9 mph will keep the afternoon feeling fresh and comfortable. Tonight is excellent: mostly clear skies, a low around 60°F, and a light northwest breeze. Open those windows.
Coastal Flooding Alert: Tonight and Tuesday Night
If you live, work, or commute near the shoreline, this matters. The National Weather Service is flagging a low-ceiling coastal flooding scenario, with astronomical tides peaking near 12.0 feet at Boston Harbor this evening. Up to one foot of storm surge is possible, which could cause splashover and minor flooding on vulnerable roads — including Morrissey Boulevard — during the evening high tide cycles tonight and again Tuesday night. Avoid low-lying coastal roads after sundown and check in with local alerts before you head out.
Best Window to Be Outside
After 8 AM today, you’re in good shape. Tuesday and Wednesday are even better — full sunshine and highs near 82°F with light winds make them the pick of the week. It’s a perfect stretch for a run along the Charles River Esplanade, a round of golf, or an afternoon on the Greenway. With the sunshine and calm conditions, it’s also prime time to hit the water — the Plano Double-Sided Tackle Box at just $14 is an easy addition to any fishing bag.
What to Wear or Bring
For anyone heading into the city before 8 AM ET, pack a packable rain jacket — showers are still possible during the early commute. A compact travel umbrella is smart if you’re taking the T into Back Bay or Downtown Crossing. By noon, both can stay in the car.
Red Sox, World Cup, and Events This Week
This week is a gift for outdoor fans. The Boston Red Sox host the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park on June 16, 17, and 18 under sunny skies with highs in the low 80s — conditions don’t get much better for baseball in Boston. Get tickets on SeatGeek or Find tickets on StubHub, and swing by Kenmore Square in your Boston Red Sox jersey and Boston Red Sox fitted cap. Get the full Fenway Park weather breakdown before you go.
Also on Tuesday, June 16: the 2026 World Cup comes to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough for Norway vs. Iraq (Group I, Match 18) under that same sunny, 82°F sky. And Les Misérables opens at Citizens Opera House — fully indoors, no weather concerns whatsoever. Later in the week, Martin Garrix plays Agganis Arena on June 18, and Yellowcard brings the Up Up Down Down Tour to Leader Bank Pavilion on June 17.
Tonight’s Dinner Idea
A drizzly morning calls for something hearty and hands-off. Load up a programmable slow cooker before you head out and come home to chili, beef stew, or a big pot of soup. An enameled cast iron Dutch oven is equally great if you prefer stovetop. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Tuesday and Wednesday are the stars of the week — sunshine and low-80s temperatures across Greater Boston. The National Weather Service hints at more unsettled conditions creeping back toward the end of the work week, so front-load your outdoor plans. Keep an eye on the Boston weather forecast as Friday approaches.
