Baltimore is heading into a blistering Saturday with a high near 94°F — and if you’re planning to spend time outside, your window is the morning. The National Weather Service warns heat indices could briefly touch 95°F between 3 and 6 PM ET, and a strong to severe thunderstorm threat is expected to brush northern portions of the region after 6 PM tonight.

Today’s Setup

A cold front is slowly tracking southeast through the area, dragging the storm risk along with it. West winds at 3 to 13 mph with gusts up to 24 mph offer little relief from the heat. Surface dewpoints are modest, but afternoon sun will make it feel worse than the thermometer suggests. Anywhere exposed — the Inner Harbor waterfront, Fort McHenry, Patterson Park — you’ll feel every degree out there.

Storm and Fire Risk Tonight

NWS forecasters are clear: strong to severe thunderstorms could clip northern Baltimore after 6 PM ET, with activity tapering off by around 2 AM. Separately, the combination of 94°F heat, dry air aloft, and gusty west winds creates elevated fire weather conditions today. Before any outdoor grilling or debris burning, make sure you have a fire extinguisher home within reach. Keep a fire blanket kitchen handy as well, and consider having a go bag emergency evacuation kit ready — it covers fire and storm scenarios alike. If smoke becomes a concern, an N95 respirator mask smoke is smart to have on hand.

Events and Weekend Plans

Tonight, The Beach Boys (featuring John Stamos) play Pier Six Pavilion along the waterfront. With storms possible after 6 PM ET, check conditions before heading down. Find tickets on StubHub if you still need seats.

On Sunday, 5 Seconds of Summer: EVERYONE’S A STAR! World Tour plays CFG Bank Arena on June 7 — thankfully indoors, so Sunday’s sunny 92°F won’t be a factor. Come ready in a 5 Seconds of Summer t-shirt, or grab a 5 Seconds of Summer hoodie for the AC inside. Get tickets on SeatGeek while they’re available.

Looking ahead, the Baltimore Orioles host the Seattle Mariners at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on both June 8 and June 9. Monday looks like the pick of the litter — sunny and pleasant after Sunday’s clean high pressure sweep. Pick up a Baltimore Orioles jersey and make a night of it at Camden Yards. Check the Baltimore weather forecast before game day for the latest conditions.

Too Hot to Cook

Skip the stove entirely tonight. Cold Thai noodle salad, a build-your-own wrap bar, or smoothie bowls are ideal in this heat. A high-powered blender makes quick work of smoothie bowls and chilled soups. Need supplies without braving a hot parking lot? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered to your door.

Next Few Days

Sunday is the weekend’s bright spot — sunny, near 92°F, with manageable northwest winds and essentially zero rain chance. A brief cooldown arrives early next week before temperatures climb again later in the week, per the National Weather Service’s forecast. Stay up to date at Baltimore weather.
