Atlanta is getting a gift Thursday — sunny skies, a high near 83°F, and not a drop of rain in the forecast. With east winds at just 0 to 5 mph and dewpoints staying comfortable, the National Weather Service sums it up in one word: “Sunny.” Get outside, Atlanta. This is rare for early June, so take full advantage.
Today’s Setup
High pressure is parked directly over Georgia today, keeping skies clear and blocking Gulf moisture from filtering in. The National Weather Service notes dewpoints will stay “pleasant for this time of year” — a phrase that means a lot in a city where humidity usually rules summer. Overnight stays mostly clear with a low around 61°F. Leave the windows open.
Best Window To Be Outside
All day is fair game. Golfers, tee times are wide open — light winds, full sunshine, and low-80s temps make this about as good as June gets on a local course. Piedmont Park and the BeltLine will be buzzing by midday.
Tonight, the Braves host the Toronto Blue Jays at Truist Park under clear skies with temperatures easing into the low 60s — about as good as outdoor baseball weather gets. Rep the team with an Atlanta Braves jersey or an Atlanta Braves fitted cap. Get tickets on SeatGeek if you still need them. The Pittsburgh Pirates series picks up Friday through Sunday with equally beautiful conditions.
Also on tap tonight: The Black Crowes bring the Southern Hospitality Tour to Bell Auditorium, and the UniverSoul Circus is set up at Old Turner Field Grey Lot — both worth catching on a perfect June evening.
Rain, Wind, or Heat Risk
None today or Friday. The Weather Prediction Center’s excessive rainfall outlook targets the Upper Midwest — not Atlanta. No severe weather concerns from the Storm Prediction Center for our area either.
The break ends Sunday. The National Weather Service says diurnally driven afternoon showers and storms return then and continue through midweek. Plan big outdoor activities for today through Saturday.
What To Wear or Bring
Shorts, a t-shirt, and sunscreen. A Stanley tumbler 40oz will keep your drink cold through the afternoon heat. If you’re staying for the late innings at Truist Park, toss in a light layer — it’ll feel like that low-61°F forecast once the sun drops.
Grilling and Weekend Plans
Friday stays mostly sunny near 84°F. Saturday ticks up to near 86°F — still mostly sunny, though dewpoints start climbing as winds shift southerly. The National Weather Service calls it “drier and pleasant for June” through Saturday, and that’s good enough to fire up the grill three nights running.
Burgers, steaks, and grilled chicken with corn on the cob are calling. An instant-read meat thermometer keeps everything off the grill at the right temp, and a grill brush and scraper set will have the grates ready all weekend. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything delivered to your door. While you’re planning the weekend, this 2-Person Intex Float with Built-In Cooler for $24 is a serious pool upgrade for the warm stretch ahead.
Looking further out, Megan Moroney brings The Cloud 9 Tour to State Farm Arena on June 8 — indoors, so Sunday’s rain won’t matter. Find tickets on StubHub before the show sells out.
