Atlanta is heading into Monday with a partly cloudy sky and temperatures climbing to near 86°F — but if you have evening plans outdoors, keep one eye on the radar, because showers and thunderstorms are possible after 5 PM ET.
Today’s Setup
A “wedge” pattern kept low clouds and northeast winds over the area overnight, but the National Weather Service expects winds to shift northwest through the morning, opening the door for some sunshine. The bigger story is a mesoscale convective system (MCS) dropping down from the north. NWS forecasters at Peachtree City expect most of that activity to push west into Alabama, but north Georgia carries a Marginal Risk for strong, gusty winds this afternoon and evening — particularly in areas with saturated soils from last week’s heavy rain, where tree roots are more vulnerable. For Atlanta proper, a 20% storm chance materializes after 5 PM ET, with the most active window before 8 PM ET.
Best Window To Be Outside
Morning through mid-afternoon is your sweet spot. Head to Piedmont Park for a run, squeeze in a round of golf, or knock out Buckhead errands before 2 PM ET. Northwest winds stay light at 0–10 mph — comfortable by any June-in-Georgia standard.
Storm Risk & What To Watch
Confidence in the metro staying mostly dry is reasonably high, but don’t get caught flat-footed. Tonight’s low holds near 67°F with a 40% chance of lingering storms before 8 PM ET as that MCS edges closer. Toss a packable rain jacket in your bag if you’re heading out after work. With storm season in full swing, having a backup power source on hand isn’t a bad idea — the DARAN 288Wh Power Station is just $90 for Prime members and worth keeping around.
Braves vs. Blue Jays at Truist Park
The Atlanta Braves open a three-game home series against the Toronto Blue Jays starting Tuesday, June 2, at Truist Park. Tuesday’s forecast brings a high near 78°F with a 30% rain chance — slight shower risk between 8 AM and 2 PM ET, then an isolated storm chance around 2–3 PM ET. Tailgating should be workable with a weather eye, but have a plan B if storms fire early. Deck out in your Atlanta Braves jersey or Atlanta Braves fitted cap before you head to the Battery. Still need seats? Find tickets on StubHub or Get tickets on SeatGeek for all three games.
Dinner Tonight: Comfort Food Weather
Those clouds rolling in make this a set-it-and-forget-it kind of night. Load a programmable slow cooker with chili or beef stew before you leave the house — it’ll be waiting when the evening storms arrive. An enameled cast iron Dutch oven is equally perfect for a big pot of soup on the stovetop. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Tuesday stays cooler — near 78°F — with lingering shower chances, but it’s not a washout. Tuesday night drops to a refreshing 57°F, one of the more comfortable nights Atlanta will see all summer. The National Weather Service expects drier conditions to build through the second half of the week, which is great news for the Braves homestand and anyone with weekend outdoor plans around the city.
