Atlanta is starting Friday with pure sunshine and a high near 79°F — one of the cleanest weather days we’ll see all week, and a genuine invitation to get outside before the weekend heat cranks up.
Today’s Setup
High pressure has locked in across the region, holding winds to a gentle southeast breeze around 5 mph and keeping humidity refreshingly low. Expect a comfortable afternoon across Midtown, Buckhead, and out toward Stone Mountain. Overnight lows will drift down to a pleasant 58°F under mostly clear skies — perfect for sleeping with the windows cracked. Check the Atlanta weather forecast for the latest updates through the week.
Fire Weather Note: North Georgia
One heads-up for our neighbors north of the city: the National Weather Service warns conditions may approach Critical Fire Weather thresholds this afternoon, with relative humidity potentially bottoming out near 25%. If you’re in the north Georgia foothills, hold off on burning yard debris today, keep a water source close for any outdoor projects, and be extra careful near dry brush. The fire risk is mainly north of metro Atlanta and will ease overnight.
Best Window To Be Outside
Today is as close to a perfect spring day as Atlanta gets. The window from mid-morning through late afternoon is ideal for golf, a Beltline walk, or any outdoor project you’ve been putting off. Golfers heading to East Lake, Bobby Jones, or any of the Buckhead-area courses will find firm, dry fairways — toss a golf divot repair tool in your bag and make the most of it. Atlanta Braves at Truist Park — All Weekend
The Atlanta Braves host the Boston Red Sox in a three-game series at Truist Park on May 15, 16, and 17 — and the weather cooperates beautifully for most of it. Tonight’s opener gets the best conditions: clear skies, 79°F, and almost no wind through the evening. Saturday’s game bumps up to a warm 86°F with mostly sunny skies — outstanding tailgate weather in the Cobb County parking lots. Sunday is the one to watch: highs near 88°F with a slight chance of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms after 2 PM ET. The National Weather Service says any storms Sunday will be diurnally driven and scattered, but keep a weather app handy if you have Sunday afternoon tickets. Rep the hometown team in an Atlanta Braves jersey or an Atlanta Braves fitted cap, and Get tickets on SeatGeek for all three games.
Tonight is also loaded with live music across town. Sting brings his 3.0 Tour to the Synovus Bank Amphitheater at Chastain Park under beautiful open skies. Dave Matthews Band plays Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. And the Elmiene – Sounds for Someone Tour hits Coca-Cola Roxy — a great indoor option if you want to make a full night of it after the game. Find tickets on StubHub for any of these shows before they sell out.
Grill Night & Meal Idea
With tonight dropping to 58°F under clear skies, backyard conditions don’t get much better. Fire up the grill for burgers, steaks, or grilled chicken with corn on the cob — a classic Atlanta Friday. A grill brush and scraper set will get those grates clean in two minutes, and an instant-read meat thermometer takes the guesswork out of perfectly cooked chicken thighs. Need ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door.
Next Few Days
Temperatures climb through the weekend: 86°F on Saturday, 88°F on Sunday, and the National Weather Service hints at continued warming into early next week as the Bermuda High settles over Georgia. The best rain chances return midweek. Enjoy this dry, comfortable stretch while it lasts — it’s some of the finest spring weather Atlanta will see before summer humidity takes hold.
