Today’s your last shot at a free $200 from Amazon
If you’ve been on the fence about the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa, today is decision day. Chase has been running a promotion from June 11 through July 9 where new cardholders get a $200 Amazon gift card bonus instantly upon approval — no minimum spend required. That’s it. Sign up, get approved, get your $200. After today, this particular offer window closes.
Worth noting: there was also a shorter-lived $120 bonus tied to the Amazon Prime Store Card that ran June 23–26, but that window has already passed. The $200 no-spend offer on the Prime Rewards Visa is the one still live today.
Why this one stands out
Most credit card sign-up bonuses require you to hit a spending threshold — think “spend $500 in three months” — before the bonus kicks in. This one skips that step entirely. You’re approved, the $200 lands as an Amazon gift card, and you’re free to use it (or not) however you like. For families who are cautious about opening new credit lines just to chase a bonus they might not actually earn, a no-spend guarantee removes a lot of the risk calculus.
Who this is best for
- Regular Amazon shoppers — if you already buy diapers, groceries, or household basics through Amazon, this is close to free money.
- Prime members restocking for summer — between beach trip gear, cooling fans, and back-to-school shopping ramping up, a $200 Amazon credit stretches further right now than it might in a slower shopping month.
- Value-conscious families who don’t want to overspend to earn a bonus — since there’s no spend requirement, you’re not being nudged into buying anything you don’t need.
This is not a great fit if you’re trying to avoid opening new credit accounts soon (a new card does add a hard inquiry and can affect your credit mix), or if you rarely shop Amazon and wouldn’t otherwise use the gift card.
The catch
The obvious one: this offer expires today, July 9. Approval isn’t guaranteed — it’s subject to Chase’s standard credit approval process, so a hard credit pull will happen and there’s no promise you’ll qualify. As always with any new card, only apply if you’re comfortable with a new credit line and plan to use it responsibly.
Bottom line
If you’re already an Amazon or Prime household and you’re comfortable with a new credit card, there’s very little reason to skip a guaranteed $200 with zero spending strings attached — but the clock runs out tonight. If you miss it, keep an eye out for the next round of Amazon card promotions, which tend to reappear around major shopping seasons.
