RUSH: Fifty Something Hits Madison Square Garden Tonight

RUSH takes the stage at Madison Square Garden tonight at 7:30 PM ET. It’s an indoor show, so once you’re through the doors, the setlist and the sound are all that matter — the roof over MSG doesn’t care what’s happening outside.

But getting there is a different story tonight.

Getting There: Plan for a Wet Walk

The National Weather Service has New York under showers and thunderstorms today, with a 95% chance of precipitation and temperatures near 80°F, dipping to around 78°F by evening. Wind is out of the southwest at 12 to 15 mph. Translation: if you’re walking from parking, the subway, or a rideshare drop-off, you’re probably getting rained on before you get inside.

Build in extra time. Storms plus Penn Station foot traffic under MSG is its own kind of chaos even on a dry night — add rain and you’ll want a buffer beyond your usual arrival window. If you’re driving, know your garage ahead of time rather than circling in a downpour looking for street parking.

Once you clear security, forget the forecast entirely. This is an arena show, not a lawn seat.

Rep the Band

Heading in early to grab a drink or hit the merch stands? You can rep your fandom before you even find your seat. A RUSH t-shirt or RUSH hoodie both work fine layered under a jacket for the trip over, and a RUSH hat is one less thing that gets soaked on the walk in. If you want something for the wall afterward, a RUSH poster is worth grabbing too.

One more that’s easy to forget: concert ear plugs high fidelity. MSG gets loud, and high-fidelity plugs let you protect your hearing without losing the mix — smart move for a band known for its layered sound.

Practical Tips

  • Arrive with a cushion for rain-slowed foot traffic around Penn Station/MSG.
  • Know your entrance and bag policy before you’re standing in the wet trying to figure it out.
  • Keep valuables and phones protected during the walk in — once inside, you won’t think about the weather again.

See you inside. Bring rhythm, not an umbrella.
