Sacramento weather today is sunny and 80°F—one of those perfect spring days that makes you want to get outside and enjoy the Capital City. After a quick system moved through the Sierra foothills overnight with scattered showers and thunderstorms, we’re turning a corner into a beautiful stretch of weather that’ll last through at least Saturday.

Today & Tonight: Your Outdoor Window

This morning’s mostly clear skies will give way to full sunshine by mid-morning. Highs will climb to around 80°F with just 1 to 5 mph winds from the west-southwest—ideal conditions for just about anything you’ve got planned. Whether you’re heading to Discovery Park for a walk along the American River Parkway, grabbing lunch downtown near the Capitol, or hitting the links at one of Sacramento’s courses, you won’t find better conditions.

If you’ve been thinking about grill season, today’s the day. Light winds mean smoke won’t blow into the neighborhood, and temps in the low 80s are perfect for spending time outside without overheating. For dinner, consider firing up some tri-tip—we’ve got a great guide on how to smoke tri-tip like brisket that’s a game-changer for Central Valley grilling.

Tonight stays clear and mild, dropping only to around 52°F. No rain concerns—zero percent chance through Thursday.

Thursday & Beyond: Warming Trend

Thursday heats up slightly to 85°F under sunny skies, with the same light winds. The National Weather Service forecasters note that upper-level high pressure is firmly in control, bringing warm and mild conditions through Saturday. This is your extended outdoor window.

If you’re planning a trip to the foothills or heading toward Tahoe this weekend, conditions look excellent through Friday. Pollen counts may be elevated as plants bloom in this warm spell—if you’re sensitive, a saline sinus rinse Neti pot kit can help clear things out after outdoor time.

For longer outdoor days, grab a rolling cooler with wheels to keep drinks and snacks cold, and don’t forget SPF 50 sunscreen—even in spring, that Valley sun is no joke. If you’ve got kids, a badminton set or inflatable family pool would be perfect for these next few days.

Weekend & Beyond

Saturday stays sunny and warm, though the National Weather Service is tracking a possible system late Saturday into early next week with low confidence. Ensemble models have been trending to keep it more offshore, which means the valley may stay mostly dry, though mountain showers are possible later Saturday or Sunday. We’ll have a better read by Friday—stay tuned to updates.

Tonight’s Dinner

With perfect grilling weather, fire up that tri-tip or throw some burgers on. Need fresh ingredients? You can order groceries on Amazon and have everything for tonight’s dinner delivered to your door. Grab some quality beef, fresh vegetables, and your favorite sides.

Bottom Line: Enjoy this beautiful stretch. It doesn’t last forever in Sacramento—summer heat arrives fast. Get outside, get active, and soak up the sunshine.
