San Antonio Weather: Slight Storm Chance This Afternoon, Then Warming Trend
Today’s Bottom Line: We’re looking at a mostly sunny afternoon with just a slight 20% chance of showers or thunderstorms—nothing to cancel outdoor plans, but keep an eye on the sky if you’re heading out later this afternoon or early evening.
After the past couple of days of rain we’ve had around Alamo City, today’s shaping up to be a nice drying-out day. Temperatures are already climbing into the low 80s, and we’ll top out near 86 this afternoon with a light south-southeast wind around 10 mph. The National Weather Service notes that the atmosphere is more stable across our area today compared to recent days, so widespread thunderstorm activity isn’t expected.
That said, our friends out across the Southern Edwards Plateau and near the Rio Grande could see a few isolated storms late this afternoon into this evening as a dryline pushes eastward from West Texas. If a storm does form out that way, it could turn severe with large hail as the main threat. We’re not expecting significant impacts here in San Antonio proper, but it’s worth monitoring if you’re heading to the Hill Country.
Your Day-by-Day Plan
This Afternoon: Perfect time to get outside! Mow the lawn, hit the golf course, or take a walk along the River Walk. That slight rain chance is low enough that you don’t need to worry, though if you’re spending the whole afternoon outdoors, tossing an umbrella or rain jacket in the car is smart thinking—just in case.
Tonight: Clearing out by 7 p.m., with lows around 71°. Great evening for grilling or sitting on the patio.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy but dry, with highs near 84°. Winds pick up slightly (5-15 mph with gusts to 25), so secure any loose outdoor items. Another isolated storm chance is possible, particularly over the Edwards Plateau, as a western trough moves closer. Again, nothing major expected in San Antonio.
Wednesday and Beyond: We’re warming up nicely into the mid-80s with mostly cloudy skies. The active weather pattern continues, so keep checking back on the forecast as we head into the rest of the week.
Quick Gear Reminder
With our unpredictable spring pattern, it’s smart to keep an umbrella handy in your car and consider waterproof boots if you’re planning any outdoor adventures in the Hill Country where storms could develop. A lightweight rain jacket is perfect for this time of year—versatile for our warm afternoons but ready if a quick storm pops up.
Stay weather-aware, San Antonio! Spring in South Texas keeps us on our toes, but today’s looking pretty friendly for getting outside and enjoying that sunshine.
